These are good points, and I think maybe gets to the heart of what some folks can't separate, let me try and break down how I saw things Bivol caught MANY of Beterbiev's punches on his guard, these punches should not be scored, as the punches were not clean... ...however, as you noted the punches were effective as they pushed Bivol on the defense, nullify his return fire and ability to execute his jab 1/2 reset formula. Artur's strategy in his fights isn't really to score it's to damage with the end goal to manufacture clear openings to end the fight as his opponent drowns in the pressure Even though Artur did not stop Bivol, his strategy was effective as can be seen from Bivol's reduced output 10-12 I have no issue with a judge who scored the fight 10-10 on clean punches landed giving the nod to Beterbiev in some rounds (10 -& 12 especially) I feel many folks are mixing up Effective Aggression and Clean Effective punches - non-scoriing punches can still be effective and sway judges in an otherwise even round, if the judge feels the effective aggressor imposed his will better, and the opponent implementing the defence was less effective.
He was too passive in the second half of the fight, they will not give you undisputed tittle and 3 belts, if you are not dominating.
Beterbiev couldn't put a dent him him. He fasted 72 hours on fight week. Must have weakened him. He usually has guard splitting power. He couldn't penetrate Bivols defensive guard.
Based on what Jabbr says. Impactful punches in terms of Judging Criteria is 16x. more worth than a regular punch. So just based on that, Bivol landing 50 to 23 only for Beterbiev, he clearly won that fight.
It's not as straightforward as that though, it's a 10 point must system and is scored round by round, not based on the overall stats. Bot fighters had bunches of their best successes in the rounds they won clear, leaving many other rounds close. I've not dug into round by round stats, but i'd wager that Artur probably threw at least half of his punches in the last 3 rounds, and that Bivols high impact shots were spread mostly across rounds 1-3 and 7-9.
Don't explain me the rules i know them perfectly and this ain't just random AI system. Is specifically build for Boxing Scoring and stats acquiring. It's know how to count every single punch and also measure how hard the punch land, etc. Every single fight the DeepStrike has score so far was 100% on point. As far as how Boxing is scored: I think a lot of you need to get a proper education about that: Here are the following areas in which boxing judges are encouraged to determine who 'won' or 'lost' a round: Effective Aggression: Being aggressive gives the impression of dominance, but unless the boxer is landing shots and not constantly getting countered, it isn't really 'effective'. Judges look for effective aggression, where the aggressor consistently lands punches and avoids those from his opponent. Ring Generalship: The fighter who controls the action and enforces their will and style. Defense: How well is a boxer slipping, parrying, and blocking punches? Good defense is important. Hard and Clean Punches: To the untrained eye, it can appear as if a boxer is landing a lot of shots, when, in fact, most are being blocked or aren’t landing flush. A judge needs to look for hard shots that land clean. Now tell me in which criteria did Beterbiev won this fight? You can only give him Ring Generalship, but this come second or even third, after you can separate the 2 fighters in a round. Always the first thing is the Clean punches that lands. And again read the Bold part. That was masterful display of Defense by Bivol, and counterpunching. Also Bivol clearly control the first 6 rounds of the fight, which i had 5-1 for him. And he definitely win at least 2-3 more rounds after.
I must be one of the few that didn't think it was that great of a bout, neither really gritted their teeth and fought like champions IMO, neither landed clean, telling blows. As I said earlier, Beterbiev has terrible shot placement and if he punched more with bad intentions he would have got Bivol out of there.
Incorrect buddy. Use the Arrows, they have distribution over the Impactful punches, as everything else. It was 8-3-1(even) For Bivol, aka Bivol outlanded him in Impactful Punches in 8 rounds.
No. I can see an argument for a draw or close either way depending on what u prefer. It wasn't clear cut for either man.
Beterbiev has the ability to get Bivol out of there providing he fights a smarter fight. He has power in bucket loads and should use it more. If he fought more like an intelligent pot shotter he would knock Bivol out. He doesn't mix it up enough, throw soft flurries, distract him with pitter-patter shots before really digging in hard shots to the body & head. It's crazy I'm saying this but he needs to throw his shots with more venom and place them better.
As noted hadn't looked into the distribution or rewatched the fight yet - my view at the time was that Bivol's best most impactful shots were in 1-3 & 7-9 (especially 9 where it looked like he was starting to gain the ascendancy again in a big way). I'd be interested to see round 12 in that front as it might even highlight the whole thing - IIRC Bivol did score probably the best shots in round 12, but he wasn't active for the full 3 minutes and Artur was outworking him for most of the round, but not with as clean work - so in that round it's hard as it's not a clear case of Bivol scored the best shots therefore he won the round, Artur had more sustained success with good bodywork as well that can sometimes not be as clear to see. Really need to see that round 12 back!
Just rewatched the 12. This is clear Bivol round. Landed huge flurries and ended the Round on landing. Clearly outlanded Beterbiev, who was hitting gloves all night. BTW i'm a huge fan of both guys and just wanted the right guy to won, but that didn't happen. Anyone that can read even averagely a body language knew what they saw after the 12. Beterbiev was going down to his corner with head's down and his team knew they lost. This was robbery at it's finest. Even Turki said Bivol won that fight. This content is protected
I don't know what you do or don't know - you posted the overall stats and all I was noting is full stats doesn't tell the full picture. I am plenty familiar with the judging criteria as well - but I know that whilst that criteria should be objective it's impossible for it to be. A judge that favours the aggressor, that forces the fight, keeps centre of the ring is going to favour Artur in the close rounds in this fight. A judge that favours more of the sweet sceince of 'hit and not get hit' is going to favour Bivol. And both those judges might see any of the criteria differently as it's all interpretation It's a hard fight to score, because Bivol and Beterbiev kind of mirror each other in styles:- The sweet science judge may have seen Bivol as the ring general in the majority of rounds as he executed his defence well, blocked many shots and scored the cleaner work. The aggressor judge may have seen Beterbiev holding centre of ring more, pushing Bivol back and having even blocked shots doing damage / nullifying return fire and decided it was enough for the nod. I'll reiterate my earlier point, it's not that straightforward!
