No. Beterbiev is a bigger and better version of GGG. At the end of their last fight, GGG looked like he had more stamina at 41 than Canelo. The first fight between those two was a decision much more controversial than the one Saturday. Canelo pulled out a razor thin victory in their second fight. There's a reason Canelo hasn't tried to fight him yet.
Canelo picked Bivol and not Beterbiev for a reason....he thought Bivol was the easier pickings. Now, both Canelo and Beterbiev have aged a bit, but Artur still has the power to clobber out Canelo.
I doubt it, Beterbiev would walk through him, Canelo would not be able to provide the necessary resistance to be able to match Beterbiev.
I don't think Canelo would have a single advantage in this fight. Bivol was stronger than Canelo and was able to easily block all his punches. Bivol was generally successful at evading most of Beterbiev's punches, but it was clear Beterbiev was much stronger. Canelo's defensive reflexes have also gone down tremendously the last few fights. He ate way more punches than he should have against Berlanga. If he took even half that amount against Beterbiev he would probably get KO'd. I give Canelo slim to no chance defeating Beterbiev. Maybe if he ages him out, but even then Canelo is no spring chicken himself.
A couple of thoughts on this - and I know styles make fights, but... Canelo dominated Smith, Beterbiev obliterated him Bivol dominated Canelo, Beterbiev outworked a super-sharp Bivol to take a v close one down the stretch Skill for skill, yes Canelo on paper would look like he has a chance, but his tendency to gas and take rounds off would be his undoing against Artur. Late TKO for Beterbiev, with the ref saving Canelo from himself after taking a mighty shellacking 2 or 3 rounds in a row, with a couple of bodshot KDs. Beterbiev too big, too strong, hits too hard AND has insane conditioning. All a recipe for a bad night for Alvraez. That said, it would be a route for Canelo to avoid the Benavidez fight, as no one would really say he was scared of David if he got in with Artur.
Canelo would get his arse beat in unsplendid fashion, he’d be getting sent off to the proverbial abattoir.
As much as I admire Alvarez he would have next to zero chance of winning a fight with Beterbiev. At this stage of his career he doesn't have the foot work to stay away or the power to hurt or deter Beterbiev. I can't imagine this going past four or five rounds before Canelo gets counted out or his corner stops the fight.
Because its for the undisputed and he would be the under dog. VS Benevidez he has everything to lose.
Oh you can be sure of that lol. They'll start making every excuse in the book. And if he wins a decision and gets that signature win, then the judges were paid off. We know the routine by now, but I still want to see it, just for the possibility to see Canelo prove all the haters wrong and make them eat crow.
Beterbiev doesn't just have power; he's a smart who knows how to destory his opponents. In all seriousness, it would be a disaster for Canelo.
