If his power was so good he would have stopped Fury. Wilder could not stop the worst version of him. Wilder's power was nothing special when he faced someone who was not a can.

What kind of logic is that? Fury has proved time and time again that his powers of recovery from KDs are very good. Wilder also arguably had Fury out for the ten count in their first fight. It was a massively delayed count if I remember correctly.

Like I said you are taking a revisionist outlook on it. Either way you are arguing against the general consensus opinion in boxing that Wilder had freakish power. That’s fine, go ahead, but the evidence doesn’t back you up. We are not discussing Wilder’s quality of opponents and I know he was heavily protected.

The irony is you are making a case for Wardley having greater power than Wilder because Wilder never knocked out an elite fighter when Wardley himself has never fought anyone above domestic level. You’re also conveniently forgetting that Wardley didn’t knock out Clarke in their first fight.

Who knows, maybe Wardley will go on to demonstrate world class power. Regardless of whether or not that happens, it remains the case that Wilder most definitely did have freakish power. It’s just silly to argue otherwise and use Wardley as a barometer.

 

The topic of that conversation was Wilder so obviously my comment was about boxers other than Wilder.

Yes many a ref would have stopped the fight without a count and it was a very long count including a 3-4 second walk at the end of the count.

Incredible desire to get up and not many would have recovered from that punch delivered by Wilder.

Wilder must have spent the next 2 weeks wondering why he never won that fight after that punch landed.

 

Wilder's face after he got up is one of the defining images of heavyweight boxing this century in my view.

 

Let's play the game. Zhang, Parker.. where was Wilders power then? Do not come with that codswallop about Wilder's power leaving him in F3. Nonsensical! As power is the last thing to leave a fighter especially one who yourself and many has down as the apparent hardest punchet ever.

 

I could name two cruisers who were active when Wilder was and they would have dogwalked Wilder's comp. Do you think that AJ, Zhang wouldn't have sparked everyone of them out that Wilder faced? This is rubbish logic. Wilder was totally done as a fighter when he fought those two for starters. He had been brutally KO’d and had noticeably deteriorated in all aspects, including athleticism. Secondly, again you are being subjective without reason. Maidana, one of the hardest punchers in the division at the time, couldn’t KO Khan, one of the chinniest boxers of all time. Does that mean Maidana doesn’t have power?

It’s pointless continuing the discussion anyway. You think Wilder wasn’t a hard hitter. Ok mate.
