Before you laugh, Galento had the clear size advantage and had a left hook hard enough to drop the heavyweight champion and had an iron chin. So let's say Saad Muhammad comes in the fight in the 180s. Could he be victorious over Galento?

Galento was stopped by some guy who came into the ring at like 168lbs, I suspect Saad would deal with him.

While it wouldn't be as inevitable as Galento's fight against Joe Louis, and it would be a lot more give and take.
Still , Saad Muhammad was a much better fighter than Tony Galento. Eventually Saad stops him.

    Probably. Galento wasn't Willie Pep.
But according to everthing I've read
He could hit like a freight train.
And Saad Muhammad was very hittable .
He wasn't Willie Pep either. Lol.

I’m tipping a draw in a mostly tactical, defensive matchup.

    One for the purists.

A lot of people think Tony is too slick and elusive for Saad, but I think Matthew would eventually catch up with the slippery artful dodger and win enough rounds on points to edge it in a scientific exhibition that would play out like a chess match.

The 224 pound savage Galento of the Nova match would beat the hell out of Matt, and Miracle Matthew isn't coming back from that. Tony decked Louis by actually beating him to the punch with a non telegraphed quick hook. Two Ton was one of two guys to get off the floor to win a successive round against the Bomber (Bob Pastor also did it in Louis II.)

Saad simply didn't have the power to hurt Tony, or the physical strength to stand up to him. Galento was built like a power lifter. Pro wrestler Kola Kwariani said Tony was the strongest man he ever grappled with. Considering the fact Kwariani worked with Bruno Sammartino from 1959 to 1962, this is a noteworthy statement.

Although not his natural style, Matthew could stick and move, as he showed with Jerry The Bull Martin. He'd need to. Tony had 105 bouts worth of experience going into Nova, and decked Lou four times in the process of brutally fouling him.

Ultimately, Saad would look like a child throwing pebbles at a tank. I think Tony finishes him in around eight to nine rounds. In round eight of Yaqui Lopez II, Matthew was hit by 20 unanswered punches. If Two Ton does that to Saad, Matt's getting carried out on a stretcher.

I’m inclined to agree, against the grain. Muhammad’s going to have to be perfect, all the way through. I wouldn’t count on it.

Now I'm convinced of a possible Galento victory. Miracle Matthew might need a miracle to pull off the win.

While it's near impossible to stop Galento without getting stopped first, remember,if you're facing Saad, then prepare for his great miracle shot, it'll appear out of nowhere and somehow deletes 90% of he fighter's HP,and....

    This plus infinity.

People think Galento was a jabroni. He was crude and loud-mouthed and probably thought the Marquis of Queensbury was a hairdresser, but the SOB could fight.
