How many of those fighters that Roy beat first were unified champions? You still don’t get it. DM beat Hill and took his WBA and IBF belts. Roy’s win was absolutely meaningless because of that I don’t care if it was in 10 seconds. Also, how many times in Roy’s carefully crafted and handpicked career (because of his Glass Jaw) did Roy ever beat a Lineal, Undisputed, or Unified champion? Tell me.
You seem to know very little about the actual sport of Boxing and come across as a Roy Jones sycophant of some sort. He was called Reluctant Roy by his own tv network for a reason. The guy wasn’t serious about anything but handpicking the easiest fights.

And you come across as a obsessive RJJ hater you discredit him all the time and in some threads which are not even related about RJJ which is kind of weird you'd have that much dislike for someone that doesn't even know you exist.

Do you want me to quote your posts where you're constantly doing it ? As I said very weird behaviour.

I'm not a fan boy of any fighter it's just you're discrediting RJJ''s win over Hill when he's the only fighter to ever KO him. Who cares if it wasn't for the titles ? It's still a good win especially with the added context of being the only KO loss for Hill so I don't know why you dismiss it as I said mental gymnastics from a hater.

Michalczewski also feasted on RJJ victims and also lost to a RJJ victim in Julio Cesar Gonzalez are you going to bring that up aswell ?

As for me not knowing alot about the sport ? Pipe down. For my age my knowledge is very extensive on the sport I used to watch 1000s of fights a year in my teens.

He did lose water weight and fat, but the relevance of losing that and it effecting his performance is zero, where as the muscle he lost is. There are a number of fighters who've added muscle when increasing weight to later drop back down and not look the same, this is not something exclusive to RJJ.

What does Toney/Peter have to do with John Ruiz or Roy Jones? Sam Peter would have shattered Roys glass jaw into a million pieces.

The fact you brought up Toney beating Ruiz to discredit Jones beating him and I showed you why it's stupid lol. Ruiz is mediocre but a mediocre heavyweight contender is still a heavyweight contender, and not only does Ruiz smother Beterbiev, Peter would kill him

Ruiz was only ever a HW contender because he benefited from Don Kings corruption. If you had followed or were familiar with Ruizs career you would understand how much of fraud he was. 1) Peter wasn't totally schooled like Ruiz was either and clearly won the rematch. 2) Toneys overall accomplishments above LHW hold much more weight than Jones' do, but that's another topic altogether. Beterbiev never fought at HW. We don't how good or bad he would have done. I am very confident in saying that he would smash Ruiz . Peter is a difficult fight because of his power and Beterbievs head on approach. That being said his chances are far greater than glass jawed Jones.

That's the answer. He hasn't even left his own weight class, we dont know how good he would do. But for some reason he does way better than Jones despite being more physical and getting hit more ?

Does this "political corruption" just consist of Ruiz's excessive clinching ?

I'm not focused here on how Beterbiev might do in fantasy fights at HW. You brought that up not me.

Add gift decisions, faking low blows and undeserved fights/rankings to that as well. This is all common knowledge.

would be great fight. roy had phenomenal speed and reflexes. yet, they covered for him. when his chin was REALLY tested for the first time, it shattered. 50/50 for me. roy by unanimous or beterbiev by knock out.

If Ruiz was good enough to win those fights or make them hard to score I could care less that he was carefully matched. He just scraped the top 10 at the end of the day. I wouldn't call Golota a gift, but I thought he won. Rahman was a decent win. Ancient Holyfield is still a decent win even if Ruiz dulled and spoiled his way to victory.

Beterbiev could beat Jones, downplaying RJJ achievements is disingenuous

Fact is LHW RJJ lost to Glen Johnson , Tarver & an old brittle bone Calzaghe.. his best win was Virgil Hill who was arguably coming off TWO losses. He never fought his main rival either. Beterbiev >Jones. There is no argument for Beterbiev over Jones now. End of.

Bivol landed 50% of his power punches on Beterbiev, just imagine what Roy would do. Would be target practice. Roy KO.

Are you really comparing a totally shot roy jones to his prime? His performance vs Johnson was a text book example of a totally mentally shot fighter. You should not even be talking about any of his fights post Tarver rematch. Tarver unlike Beterbiev had genuine 1 punch KO power also.

If you are talking post heavyweight Roy Jones jr. then yeah Beterbiev crushes him. No argument there. If the arena vents are blowing too hard during the ring walk Roy might be on ***** street before the fight even starts. But if we are talking prime Roid at 175 then Beterviev gets whooped. Jones jr. would be too fast too powerful, and if he did get hit, he took a much better punch during his pre-heavyweight years. Beterbiev also gets hit occasionally, and has been dropped by far lesser men than a prime Jones jr. Prime for prime Roy wins a wide decision at the least.

Brook had a broken orbital, got stopped in 5 after taking 133 punches (CompuBox fwiw) from a huge punching MW and lost his 0. That likely diminished him. He then got his other orbital broken by Spence coming directly off that loss for another stoppage defeat, after that there's no doubt.

I don't think there's much comparison. Jones was making LHW consistently for 6 years after Tarver 2 whereas Brook came down to LMW 3.5 years later for an individual cash out. If making LHW was so uncomfortable and damaging for Jones between the ages of 35 and 41 he'd have moved up to cruiser, as he did later.

(edit: Jones beat Trinidad at 39 weighing 169.5 lbs, making the weight excuse even more questionable)

Some speculate that had Brook not cut back down to 147 for Spence he would have beat him but 1. it's Brook's fault either way 2. there's no real evidence this is the case. It's more plausible to me that fans just don't want to accept the validity of the loss.

Jones was 15-1 with 10 stoppages at LHW going into the Ruiz fight. Obviously he could more than cut it at LHW but his stoppage ratio was significantly better at the lower weights and he was never dropped below LHW to my knowledge. He also had fewer problems pointfighting at MW/SMW and wasn't interested in fighting DM in Germany.

I don't think any version of Jones takes the punch that Tarver caught him with without getting sparked. Had Lou Del Valle carried a bit more pop Jones may well have been stopped at 29. After Tarver 2 I suspect his head went and he became relatively indifferent to losing.
