Khan’s chin wasn’t even that bad. The Maidana fight proved that. It was his ring IQ that was his weakness. Tried to fight fire with fire as soon as he got hurt.
He lost every second of the fight apart from 30 seconds in round 8, and he blew himself out after that.
The official scorecards don’t back what you were saying up. Kovalev was winning no doubt, but Yarde gave it a go and had Kovalev badly hurt in the 8th.
Went to this last night (well, arrived for the last 4 fights), a few thoughts. -Azim is a class operator, watched him live a few times now and in awe of his speed, not just in throwing punches but how quickly he positions himself and pulls himself back out of range of a counter punch after throwing. He's technically brilliant. - Yarde was poor, im sure they will blame ring rust but he made hard work of that. But rather than hammer Yarde, let's give credit to the opponent, made a real go of it and tagged Yarde multiple times despite being knocked down in 1st.so many of this level of opponent just cover up or quit after a few rounds but he made a fight of it. - is Edmunson the new Okolie?! Stank the place out, awful to watch, holding, spoiling at any opportunity. The consensus online seems it was a robbery, I cant say that as I found it hard to score, but it was painful to watch at times. - 1st time ive been to the Copperbox, great arena for boxing, it's seating seems quite steep and packed in. The atmosphere wasn't great last night as there looked to be a couple of thousand empty seats but I could imagine that for a sold out event with the right fight it would be a cauldron atmosphere rather than some of these huge spread out arena shows. Also £6.30 a pint, far far better than the £9.25 at Wembley arena!
I've been a few times, think it's a brilliant venue. Never been when it's a full house though. Like you say, I can imagine it would be mega
Was there last night too, I agree if fully packed out there would be a great atmosphere in there ... impressive arena.
I have been to the copper box when it's full but that was for New Japan Pro-Wrestling. It definitely a great venue for combat sports.
I agree. It is absolutely incredible how all the impact in the blows has disappeared...? Boxers that used to look really good look ordinary now...?
I agree. Adam Azim is way too fast for Dalton Smith. Smith will not be able to keep up with Azim's combinations at all. His only chance is to eat Conor Benn's eggs and land a lucky punch on his chin. By the way : I think Dalton Smith has looked bad in the last couple of fights. His development has stalled. I wonder why ?
I agree and remember that Adam Azim has only shown approx. 50% of his boxing ability on fight night. In sparring he looks sensational.
Yarde another one last night. Since Eggsgate, many boxers are suddenly looking very poor and lacking power
