Simon Brown vs Tyrone Trice 1

    1 Trice
    2 Trice 10-8
    3 Trice
    4 Trice
    5 Trice
    6 Brown
    7 Brown
    8 Brown
    9 Even close round
10 9-9 Brown wins the round but gets a point deducted.
    11 Brown
12 Brown 10-6 3 knockdowns but only 2 were legit IMO.
13 Brown 10-8 one sided round no knockdown.
    14 Brown wins by TKO

    123-118 Brown

Great fight Trice was clearly the dominant fighter early on but the momentum of the fight shifted dramatically after the 5th round, Trice got a bit over confident in the 6th round allowing Brown to hit him big mistake. I felt like Brown pretty much controlled the tempo of the fight after the 6th and despite Trice rallying at points in the fight staying competitive, it felt like to me Trice was fighting for his life where as Brown was just going about his business wearing down Trice.

I haven't got much more to add except in the 12th round the 2nd knockdown was clearly a push and shouldn't of counted, and for me the fight should've been stopped after the 12th round because Trice literally had no legs.

Simon Brown vs Tyrone Trice 2

    1 Trice
    2 Brown
    3 Brown
    4 Brown
    5 Brown
    6 Brown
    7 Brown
8 Brown 10-7 Brown scores a knockdown and Trice gets a point deducted for excessive holding.
    9 Brown
    10 Brown wins by TKO

    89-80 Brown

So i decided to watch their 2nd fight as i've never seen it and there's pretty good high quality version of it in 60 FPS.

Thoughts on the fight ? nothing like the 1st fight a complete domination from Brown after the 1st round, Brown was alot more assertive early in this fight backed up Trice effectively with a good jab and then started to pound him in the middle and late rounds. Nothing much else to add just complete one way traffic from Brown.

At the end of the fight Brown went up to Trice and Trice shoved him and their looked like there might be a riot but it quickly de-escalated.

Dyna, your posts got me looking up Tyrone Trice. I hadn't realized that he passed away last year.

A belated RIP to the man who dropped both Simon Brown and John David Jackson over the course of his career.

When I think of Trice, the moment that sticks out is from the USA Network’s “Tuesday Night Fights.” Tyrone won a fight and called out James Toney after. The next week I think they were in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and Tony climbed in the ring, took the mic and said, ‘Bring yo ass, Tyrone!’ and dropped the mic.

Nothing ever came of it, but James was serious — he wasn’t talking about ‘let’s set up a boxing match,’ but wanted Trice (who apparently wasn’t in the building) to come to the ring and settle it then and there, or maybe step outside, haha.

    RIP Tyrone.

2000-01-02 In Joo Cho SD12 Gerry Penalosa II (WBC Super Flyweight Title)
    Round 1: 9:10
    Round 2: 10:9
    Round 3: 9:10
    Round 4: 9:10
    Round 5: 9:10
    Round 6: 9:10
    Round 7: 9:10
    Round 8: 9:10
    Round 9: 10:9*
    Round 10: 10:8* (Penalosa lost a point)
    Round 11: 9:10
    Round 12: 10:9*
    Final Score: 112:115 Penalosa

First time seeing Cho for me. He definitely had some boxing abilities, was good mover and smart spoiler - but was also very negative. He did not allow Penalosa to hurt him, but had big trouble putting his own hands on Gerry.
Penalosa was stocking, while keeping his defence tight, slipping and blocking almost everything thrown at him - and in majority of rounds, was able to land couple clean single shots that should give him the rounds without any controversy.
I ended up with reasonably close score here - but I really don't see how Cho won. Every round I gave to Gerry, was very straight-forward. Most rounds that I edged to Cho, could easily go other way.
Pretty obvious example of home-cooking. Sad to see Penalosa's career derailed like that - and I wonder if the same thing has not happend in their first fight.
    Anyone?

Doing research for my now finished Wikipedia arrtcle abut Mario Miranda:
    This content is protected

He dominated and then retired which is strange, considering he was on line to challenge Rocky Lockridge for the world title.

This is the same Mario Miranda who, six years before, was set to meet the winner of Salvador Sanchez vs Juan Laporte's rematch but since Sanchez died, he met Laporte instead for the vacant world title and lost. He lost to Laporte by knockout, there is no way in Heaven or Hell he beats Salvador Sanchez.

I watched and scored the Laporte-Miranda bout a few months back and what stunned me was his actions after the 10th round. I noted on the thread that, yes, he got dropped, but got up none the worse for wear and fought back well. He returned to his corner like nothing happened but the fight was stopped between rounds. Did he quit or was it an itchy cornerman or was it a different reason entirely? He didn't seem to be protesting so i don't know. He was only down a handful of points so the retirement baffled me. Any idea what happened?

We’re maybe four years from @scartissue reviewing four-round undercard fights from armoire and bingo halls in obscure cities. He’s got to be getting close to having reviewed every fight involving a name fighter that’s available in video form on YouTube … will have to scour Facebook for sparring film from green amateurs to have something new to review.

I remember that article. Not one of your best. Instead of describing the action, you spent most of the writeup questioning how the WBA could possibly have rated the Christians as top challengers for the lions.

The Muslims should have been the mandatory and even the atheists were ranked above the Christians during that ranking period.

Lol! Oh, man, I've gotten that friggin' predictable. But now that I think of it, I wonder how much lira it did cost to get those Christians that title shot?

I'd say it's the WBA that's predictable rather than you. A world title shot is a precious thing, and I always appreciate when you call unmerited opportunities for what they are.

He was a very entertaining fighter his fight vs Kevin Pompey was a classic he threw over 1100 punches in that fight. Definitely a world class fighter but he was just short of being a world championship level type fighter he just fell a bit short in that regard.
