Wilder was on espn’s top 10 p4p at one point and I read numerous articles of him being the hardest puncher ever which was laughable.

Broner I remember the boards declaring him the next Mayweather

 

Honourable mention for Jared Anderson who was the next big thing in American boxing after a few wins vs cab drivers.

 

Usyk because people have him as a top 10 HW all time after 6 fights most of which were close. And he has people pretending a 6 ft 3 220 is small.

 

We owe sanity to the likes of Usyk, Parker, and Kabayel for doing as well as they do, otherwise the myth of 355lbs of pure power super heavyweights leaning on and wearing the all-time greats would mount even more power.

 

Kabayel and Parker weigh as much as Lennox Lewis, bud.

 

I don't think you have the full comprehension of the phrase "hype job", pal.

 

And Tyson-sized Ruiz outweighs all of them.

Point is, the more so called cruiser-sized heavyweight with significant to outright hall of fame success, the less allowance for the disgustingly lazy, reductive comparison of weight and height as an absolute determiner of possible outcome, especially when comparing the absolutely elite emerging during various eras.

It's a good measure and a fundamentally fair division for the widely understood professional ranks, but a neophite argument on an all-time scale, especially if the stark difference in bulk between fifteen and twelve rounds era (which would be adjusted accordingly by professional staff surrounding a prizefighter and modern nutrition.)

Deontay Wilder is very likely going to get into the HOF.

I think that right there, given his skillset and actual accomplishment puts this thread to bed

A day doesn't still go by when there isn't a Wasakil Wangek thread on here.

Gonzalez fought one guy I ever even heard of (Brian Viloria) before he stepped in the ring with him. And I follow boxing.

But HBO and many hipster fans in general pushed that guy down our throats FOR YEARS that he was either second best or THE BEST fighter in the whole world.

It was utter nonsense. All names of all those tiny pound-for-pound guys that were hyped to gills the last quarter century should be filling this thread.

Before broner lost to maidana, there were people on here claiming he was the next floyd. I don't consider wilder a hype job because he was what he was for most people, a very limited boxer with an absolute missile for a right hand
