HW has a good top 20. Bridgerweight needs stability and Okolie just left. If Muslim went to HW hed be sitting and waiting forever. At Bridgerweight he can play champion and generate some momentum. Hes 27 hes got time.

I like Bridgerweight better as a concept than Cruiser. Bridger only takes out the bottom at HW usually people who weren't going to be champ while Cruiser is actually taking top 175ers who'd otherwise never consider moving up.

 

In fairness, Cruiser was designed for guys who were too big for light heavyweight but not big enough for heavyweight - Jerry Quarry is a classic example. The initial weight limit was 190 lbs.

Then they changed it to 200 lbs plus, prior day weigh ins. So now the average cruiser is almost the same size as a 215 Ali or Holmes. This wasn't the original intention of the division.

 

I think they should have upped Light Heavys weight to 185 instead of making Cruiser. Traditionally those guys just fought in both weight classes. Also there is no minimum weight for HW.

 

I think they should do as they intended...restore cruiser to 190, because it doesn't make any sense to have LHW be a 25 pound jump to cruiser at 200 and then have a 24 pound jump to Bridger at 224. As you go up in weight, the weight gains are less of a proportion to total weight, and thus should get bigger.

Restore cruiser to 190 for the fifteen pound jump, and then have a 25 pound jump to 215.

As for Muslim...this is a hell of a scam. He's beating the kinds of tough character builders he should be beating at this stage, like Mann, Zhang and Harth, while calling himself a "world champion" of some sort.

 

I think Floyd Masson vs Mateusz Masternak is still happening on Nov. 16th.

I thought Joey Dawejko retired after losing to Richard Torrez last month on ESPN. I guess not! He fought this month and lost via KO5 against someone named Kristian Prenga
