Can we all atleast agree: That if it was Beterbiev that landed that Glen Johnson punch on Roy that night. Roy would probably be buried in a cemetery somewhere. Let us all put our differences aside and agree upon this. Because if a 5 ft 9 former middleweight in Glen Johnson can put that Roy to sleep for a few minutes than a formidable puncher in Beterbiev...

Read it again nuthugger. John Ruiz was not THE Heavyweight champion. He was a trinket paper belt holder who had mediocre skills.
Michael Spinks fought THE Heavyweight Champion. Usyk fought THE Heavyweight champion. What Roy did is minimal in comparison in fact there is no comparison. Glass Jaw Roy in typical fashion handpicked the easiest target at the time then promptly dropped the belt afterwards. Glass Jaw Roy tried the same thing at Light Heavyweight by handpicking feather fisted Glen Johnson so he could pick up a trinket belt and call himself a ‘champion’ again but it backfired when he got his Glass Jaw shattered into a million pieces

Roy cautiously and carefully maneuvered through divisions during his career where he never beat a Lineal, Unified, or Undisputed Champion because he was reluctant which HBO called him out on and we all know why. That Glass Chin was abysmal.

You’ve been saying the same nonsense for years now.

You’re as ignorant now, as what you were a decade ago.

    You have learnt absolutely nothing.

You haven’t got the capacity for an objective debate.

You are completely incapable of discussing this subject objectively.

Your posts are amusing though. Simply because you seem completely and utterly oblivious to the fact of how much you contradict yourself.

I’m going to join the thread properly tomorrow.

But first, I’ll just look at the above nonsense, just as a warm up.

Now according to your Einstein level of intellect, Roy was a glass jawed former MW who never took any risks in his career.

    Really?

So: A glass jawed fighter fought a B level HW who out weighed him by over 30 pounds, but there was no risk taken there??

    None?

Yes, we’re all well aware that Roy didn’t accomplish what Spinks and Usyk did.

Yes, we are fully aware that John Ruiz was a B level HW with an ugly style, and in no way THE HW champion, who was Lennox Lewis.

However, if you’re mocking him for having a glass jaw, where he lost to a non punching LHW in Glen Johnson, then how could fighting even a B level HW, NOT have been a risk??

Fighting ANY B level HW, HAD to have been a risk for a glass jawed former MW.

    It’s nonsensical to argue otherwise.

Ruiz not being as great as Lennox Lewis, doesn’t mean that it wasn’t a risky fight for a glass jawed former MW.

Now let’s look at what happened after he’d fought John Ruiz:

He burnt muscle in order to drop back to LHW, where he fought a very capable rangy southpaw in Tarver.

So he took a big risk in losing the weight, where he was advised not to by the guy who’d helped him gain it, and the stylistic match up of the fight was also a big risk to him.

    Then what happened?

He BARELY beat Tarver, in the HARDEST fight of his career.

Then what? Did he retire? Did he move divisions?

    No.

He then immediately REMATCHED the guy who he’d barely beaten.

He was then knocked out, which gave you great delight.

Yet less than a month later, he signed to fight Johnson.

He was then knocked out again.

Then what did this risk adverse glass jawed fighter do? Retire?

    No.

He then rematched the same guy who’d knocked him out the previous year.

So: He fought a B level HW, before fighting Johnson, as well as Tarver x 3.

Yet he didn’t take any risks, become some non entity with access to a keyboard says otherwise??

    Ha!

Get back to the circus you clown.

Oh and BTW, HBO absolutely backed him in the early 00’s, where along with Roy’s advisors, they went out of their way to try and obtain fights with both Dariusz and Hopkins.

Still trolling after all of these years.

It might be a record of some sort.

    I love Artur.

    I think that he’s great.

However, he’s only fought 10 world level fighters in his entire pro career.

Eight of those were B-C level guys.

His biggest win was against Bivol, where the majority of the boxing world believes that he lost.

    So, yeah.

Let us not compare his reign to Roy’s just yet.

They would have been very difficult fights for Roy.

    Both great fighters.

Roy was still in his prime in those early LHW years, and I wouldn’t have bet on Artur catching him.

Artur has done absolutely nothing in his career for anyone to believe that he’d have destroyed Hopkins and Toney.

    What are you talking about?

IF he could have withstood Roy’s offensive arsenal.

IF he could have caught Roy and hurt him.

    Two HUGE ifs.

What great depth does this LHW era have exactly?

Artur himself has only fought 10 world level fighters, with most of them being B to C level.

Regarding Dariusz, it was Universum who would never meet with the appropriate people.

Not a single meeting ever took place.

John Ruiz wasn’t a great HW.

But he was still a HW, and a guy who’d certainly have been a top 5 win for Artur, if not top 3.

Nobody knowledgeable would have seen this as being a very easy fight for Roy.

Artur is obviously a great fighter.

Artur’s legacy is built on a win against Bivol, who many think that he was lucky to have beaten.

It would also have been a tough stylistic match up for Artur.

He isn’t huge, he isn’t fast, and he’s easy to hit.

Bivol wasn’t as fast as Roy, and look at his game plan and his success.

Yes, Artur is past his best, but I don’t see that fight playing out any differently, against any version of Artur.
