IDK what the relevance of Sosa is, but Hopkins' flaws from the 1st Mercado fight were a continuation of similar ones that he showed vs. Roy, which makes his subsequent improvements more than just simple rematch adjustments.

I also read many years ago that the Mercado fight was a turning point for him, dedication wise. After that he was completely devoted to boxing, and then some.

    Agreed.
The way Jones dispatched Tate was impressive. Roy Jones was an Alien.

Hopkins only arrived in Ecuador 2 days before the fight and wasn't acclimatized properly if you don't think fighting in over 10,000 feet altitude when you're not used to it isn’t a major issue and wouldn't greatly effect your performance then I don't know what to tell you.

Go workout in high altitude which you're not accustomed to and then tell me how you feel after.

This still wouldn't explain the technical/stylistic flaws he showed that mirrored the same ones from the Jones fight & didn't begin to get corrected until the Mercado rematch.

Because he's a really great boxer and all really great boxers get the nod, even when maybe they shouldn't.

Plenty of folks will answer every small man match up with SRR or Armstrong, which is damn well just fine.

I says dudes like Henry and Roy and Ali and ****, they earned that. Let folks mindlessly plaster greatness all over their names.
