Its weird your assuming that just because your below your natural weight, that lean mass gaining is easier. If he put on a crap load of fat then id agree with you but he was CUT at heavyweight. Also he didn’t look like he had a slim physique at Cruiser, he looked just fine. Natural even.

Sorry, understood wrong but... I wouldn't be surprised if he utilized roids to get up at heavyweight either tbh

Nor would I, but I do feel that people who don't train dont understand the difference a proper training programme, proper nutrition and not having to cut weight can make.

He’s not endorsing the PEDs, he’s partners in business with them. Gee, wonder how he met them … probably just a random encounter in church, right? I mean, who among us doesn’t have friends in the steroids business?

As for cheating drug tests, it’s been widely reported. Right from Mike’s own mouth. (He’s also admitted on a podcast that some of his fights were fixed.)

As for your observation on Holyfield gaining weight in the late 1980s, he fought Tyson more than a decade later. There’s not one iota of evidence that Evander was on gear when he fought Mike.

Incidentally, I’ve seen people from the time who say Mike weighed about 190 when he came out of prison. Sure gained some weight fast after that, haha. You think he was able to maintain his weight on prison rations?

Tyson put on 18 pounds between Golota and Nielsen in one year. I guess you’re admitting he’s on the gear, then, since it’s otherwise impossible?

I know many friends in the Steroid industry, I had someone at my Gym try to deal me Windstrol just a few days ago. Anyways if he was in dealings with MIKE TYSON do you know how valuable this story would be? Someone would have ABSOLUTELY whistle blown.

Tyson was 5’10 during Nielson, weight gain is MUCH easier for short people.
    The link is broken.

Google ‘Mike Tyson cheat drug tests’ and you’ll find all you need.

You really think if any high-level athlete was dealing with steroids that it would become public? Geez, probably more than half the athletes you’ve ever heard of have been on the gear and not a peep nor a sound. They get outed when they fail drug tests and such.

Tyson is literally in business with a company that manufactures PEDs. That is indisputable fact. Google is your friend.

His physique certainly looks indicative of PED use. How many heavies had physiques like that pre-steroids

It is though, it just is man. Not having to make weight is like watering your garden. I've been a weightlifter for over 35 years now man and I've seen people make huge gains with proper training and nutrition, even people who struggled previously. It is eminently possible to out on quality lean mass. I'm not disputing that Holyfield was likely on the kit at some point...weren't they all? Just pointing out that it is very possible to put on weight, good weight, when you have been cutting drastically.

In their first fight Tyson landed a 6-4 pretty late into it when he was clearly done for the night

It got replayed, but really it was pretty pathetic compared to the one he put on Ribalta, 86 Tyson was going at Ribalta nonstop for 10 rounds and would have still been blasting with full heat at that point against Holyfield

96 Holyfield was better equipped to fight dangerous heavyweights than the smaller '90 version. He had lost some quickness but he had more experience.

96 Holyfield had picked up insight on how to fight as a heavyweight. He was stronger and used that strength intelligently. He used his head on the inside. He pushed his opponents backwards, sat down on his punches more, basically fought like a heavyweight.

Remember back in the late 80s, early 90s Holyfield throwing some of the most awesome combinations, flurries in the sport. At times the other guy was still there afterwards. Evander got tuckered out because he was still fighting like a middleweight or light heavyweight.

What was also surprising is that Tyson didn't try to finish Holyfield ferociously after the combo. He was like in autopilot mode.
