Ref deducted a point from Khan for “pushing” first time I’ve ever seen that in a top level pro boxing match….. same ref who worked Prichard Colons last fight….
It was a blatant Duck ! Let’s not forget that back in 2014 Mayweather posted a poll on who he should fight next Khan or Maidana,Khan won this poll with 20,105 votes compared to Maidana’s 15,474 votes. At the time Khan had a record of 28-3 and Maidana was 35-3 with one of those losses being to Khan and the other loss at the time was to Kotelnik who Khan had already beaten,Khan then went on to beat Alexander in 2014 who had also beaten Maidana. Mayweather then ignored the poll results and chose to fight Maidana instead despite the fact that the Khan fight would have been a bigger more lucrative fight due to the Asian market. Khan had also signed a contract that possibly put him in line to fight Mayweather.Does this mean Khan would have beat Mayweather ? No it does not but Khans speed and style would have caused Mayweather problems, who would have won ? nobody truly knows as the fight never happened but imo it would have been a great fight.
No no shame True boxing fans were glad khan couldn't talk/ lie his way to that fight He could of fought brook at 147 tried to get that belt then drawn floyd for a uni He shatit
This was one of the worst public relations disasters ever, Mayweather literally "asked the fans" and then completely ignored the will of the people lmao. Pathetic. Say what you want about Khan but he was a stylistic nightmare for Floyd at that stage.
Maybe, but we'll never know for sure, and Floyd gave a big FU to the fans after doing the poll then choosing the guy who lost the poll. That made it abundantly clear that Floyd wanted no part of Khan lmao.
Khan was knocked out by lesser fighters, I could definitely see Floyd doing a Gatti on Khan at some point during the fight.
The problem with that argument is that by 2014 Floyd had brittle hands and was not the KO puncher he once was. This is why Khan presented a problem for him. Floyd really did not have the power at that stage to do to Khan what he did to Gatti, and frankly Khan for as chinny as he was, was far quicker on his feet than Gatti and hard to hit clean. So the analogy that he would do to Khan what he did to Gatti really doesn't hold much water. Floyd was a bigger puncher when he fought Gatti and Gatti was very easy for Floyd to target. Khan had fast feet and fast hands, Gatti had none of those attributes.
Khans chin was gone by 2014. He was hurt in every single fight at 140-147. Floyd probably wouldn't have missed much going into the later rounds. Khan would have been toast.
That or he gets pummelled and overwhelmed by Khan like Devon Alexander was. Reminder : This content is protected Now granted, Mayweather had way better defense than Alexander but I don't think Mayweather had the work rate to keep up with this version of Khan and win enough rounds to win a decision. Floyd wanted no part of "this" version of Khan that we know.
