ike-byrd? "he's one of those modern day atheletes who think diamonds are a man's best friend." "to say ------- has a glass chin, is an insult to glass."
I could swear I heard this pretty recently. It's either a recent fight or I saw it recently on replay of a classic.
"I could've killed T_m__ in there" (a heavyweight fight in the 90's between two guys who fought in the amateur olympic qualifiers) "They continued to let me bang away on ____, like.. kill him, go ahead" (also a heavyweight fight way back when :smoke)
I'll reveal mine, as I dont think anyone will figure them out soon. "Look at the crowd!! they love Roberto Duran!!! Hes going to be a great champion folks" (Duran - Kobayashi) "Dynamite punches by Williams, rapid fire, left and right. And finally, Williams appeals to the referee to stop the fight, he thinks Beau Jack is helpless" (Ike Williams vs Beau Jack)
"And this is more or less a toem poem of the brutal beauty of boxing. Your going to see blood. Your going to see sacrafise. Your going to see pain. Your going to see the emotional hurt that goes with this kind of experience both for the fighter and for their families." ------------------------------------------------------------- ???????
“When I come out I have supreme confidence. But I'm scared to death. I'm afraid. I'm afraid of everything. I'm afraid of losing. I'm afraid of being humiliated. But I'm confident. The closer I get to the ring the more confident I get. The closer, the more confident. All during training I've been afraid of this man. I think this man might be capable of beating me. I've dreamed of him beating me. For that I've always stayed afraid of him. The closer I get to the ring the more confident I get. Once I'm in the ring I'm a god. No one could beat me. I walk around the ring but I never take my eyes off my opponent….During the fight I'm supremely confident. I'm making him miss and I'm countering. I'm hitting him to the body; I'm punching him real hard. And I'm punching him, and I'm punching him, and I know he's gonna take my punches. He goes down, he's out."
