If Usyk blows a declining Fury out of the water then you may change your tune. Furys punch resistance is on the decline and the one thing Joshua has is a punch.

Because he won't beat Dubois, but he could have better chances with Wilder and Fury.

Unfortunately I feel like this was a business decision not a warrior one.

It's disappointing how many times I see self-confessed warrior boxers make decisions that are based on taking an easier path.
It's almost like they're not real warriors but bully prize-fighters who are desperate for every advantage they can get.

In this situation AJ being a warrior means he might beat Dubious but he is more likely to get KO'd again and his career is basically over, as is the fight with Fury maybe.

If he waits he can potentially get Fury in his worst possible state (old, coming off two losses, maybe a KO loss), while he himself will have more recovery time after his own KO loss.

Also on a smaller note, it's better to rematch Dubious after someone else beats or KO's him.

The way Hearn thinks, he'll want to try to send other HW's in to fight Dubious on the chance they can weaken him for AJ later, just like he used to do with Whyte.

It is strange for someone to not want their head smashed in again.

Oh really. Well that certainly prevents the first fight from happening...

AJ is too old to wait anybody out. Especially any young fighters. His reflexes already look like they slipped a lot to me.

The duck shows how terrified they are of a rematch given everything at stake: a lucrative world title fight, the possibility of confidence-boosting revenge and a degree of redemption, a better bargaining position to fight the winner or loser of Usyk-Fury 2. That’s not all though. The duck in itself looks bad, is bad for Joshua’s confidence and legacy and say Dubois (who is vulnerable) loses to white collar late starter Wardley: Joshua’s confidence and desire will decline further, along with his value. Also, they will likely have to find another opponent in the meantime which will likely be lacklustre but not totally without risk either.

For Joshua/Hearn these factors clearly don’t overrule 1. Joshua’s probability of losing a Dubois rematch, which would reduce his value further 2. The additional physical and psychological damage that Joshua is likely to receive (and given he’s damaged goods already, it could end his career).

Because it's likely he'd have back to back losses again and his career would likely be over. He will probably try and cash out in one last big fight, maybe against Wilder, maybe Fury if Fury loses again to Usyk. Suffice to say his time at the top is over, he's just hanging around for the money and should be planning his retirement.

Been a supporter of A. J in the past but done with him after this. And Eddie Hearn needs to realise nobody will be interested in Fury v Joshua after this duck move. May as well retire, would have more respect for that.

What do you mean...Warren has Parker ,Zhang and Wardley. If he puts Dubois in against one of them , he controls the belt.no matter who wins...
Its all about controlling the belt, something Don King was an expert at..

I suspect he didn't. The Saudis at some point probably realized "why tf are we making this stupid fight no one wants to see".

In terms of turning down the oppurtunity if he did turn it down my best guess is he wants the Fury fight and realizes if he gets destroyed by Dubois again(very likely) thats not happening.

Either way he didn't deserve this oppurtunity. There was no basis for him getting a rematch and it was terribly unfair.

I was talking about the scenario after Dubois won the belt, which you obviously didnt understand
