That’s now Matchroom, Queensberry and GBM on DAZN plus Golden Boy in the States. If they all do business together we could see decent fights but like you say, I don’t know how it will appeal to the casual fan.
Hopefully means more big fights if promotors can work together,on the flip side can see it signalling another death blow to small hall shows in the UK,fighters will, quite rightfully, want a piece of the Saudi money and fighting in front of a couple of hundred people in the UK for small change won't have the same appeal, can see both sides of the coin
Shame that. From a coverage point of view, TNT’s coverage seemed refreshingly propaganda-free, unlike what you get from Sky and DAZN.
id imagine they’ll just stay in the Saudi events. No money in domestic boxing or views. Bet they were lucky if they attracted an average of 10,000 last night.
Doesnt this show otherwise. Dazn are either taking a huge gamble by going big on boxing or the numbers that are prepared to subscribe for boxing means the numbers work. I find it hard to believe the execs @ Dazn would be doing this if it wasnt working. The negative is they will raise the price!!
100%, as much as I wish it was a mainstream sport it isn't, it crosses over once in a while ( i.e AJ/Fury) and even that requires the push from mainstream channels. Without major broadcasters it will diminish pretty quickly - just look at Boxnation. I wonder what the next price increase will be. Or will it just be even more ppvs? At this point I don't even know what you get included for the subscription
Well yeah, but the problem is ‘their’ own pundits. It’ll be Dev Sahni et al, Queensberry TV as much as Matchroom run their own shows. At least with Bunce, Frampton and Woodhall there was a degree of independence and separation from the product.
