He is. But Benavidez needs to make a better case for himself especially among casualfans, which fighting once this year won't do.
It's essentially the Mexican version of Khan vs Brook. Canelo can accept a loss but not to a fellow Mexican. The thought of Benavidez winning then people saying he was greater must haunt him.
He needs to get the **** over it. The worst thing he could possibly do (aside from ducking of course) was opening his big mouth demanding an insane payday for a guy who was both his mandatory and who had called him out multiple times.
