I think Parker deserves this one, but I think Dubois should stay behind his jab for the rest of his career and only get involved in the later rounds if he has to, if he stays composed and steps in with the jab or just flicks it as they come in he will break his opponent, that jab is the real deal. I don’t think he will stay so disciplined with it but if I was his trainer I’d be inclined to take this approach. I like Parker and I hope he throws Dubois off his game but the likelihood is that Dubois will be full of confidence and take it to Parker like he did to Joshua, and then Parker is done. A great fight and a deserved opportunity for Parker.
I was one of the few people who picked Dubois over both Miller and Hrgovic (not bragging - just highlighting that I have always rated him higher than most). That being said, I don't see him beating Parker.
I'll be rooting for Joseph Parker, but if I were betting money I'd pick the Queensberry fighter. He'll very likely have the officials on his side courtesy of old Fish Eyes.
Great fight. I'm a huge Parker fan since I saw him as an amateur in Wellington years back when his hype was starting to build here in NZ. His form in the last couple of year has been good to great, and he's earned a shot at a belt after taking huge risk fights and winning against Zhang and Wilder. Dubois has impressed me with his development over the last few years too, and the way he took it to AJ was fan-****ing-tastic. Can't help but feel he deserves a slightly softer first defense but more power to him for taking risky fights. Overall I'd like to see Joe box from the outside to a UD, but I'm worried Dubois will steamroll him mid rounds. Heart and head don't agree. Definitely buy this one though.
I think Parker can do it based on boxing skills and experience. But I think Chisora and Joyce showed his chin isn't the 'iron' once claimed and he might get brutally KO'd too.
This is such a poor argument. Are you really comparing Parker to Usyk, who has had six matches at heavyweight? The sooner Parker is knocked out by Dubois, and he will be, the better.
There is zero chance Parker makes it twelve rounds. His stamina since he has gained weight is not very good. He was found out against Joyce, who destroyed him. He got through Wilder in twelve because Wilder didn't throw a punch and it was fought at a snail's pace. Zhang, a man in his forties, suffers from poor stamina and fades badly. Dubois will be on him from round one and the pace will be relentless. He will be obliterated by the jab and pummelled with right hands anytime the opportunity presents itself.
How is that a poor argument? Usyk is the undisputed heavyweight champion. Not particularly known for being a big puncher, yet he stopped Dubios with a jab. It's not inconceivable that Parker can accomplish the same. Not sure why you're such a hater.
He has only fought 5 to be fair The guys right here, Parkers KO ratio is pathetic against worthwhile opposition He knows it himself and even admitted it's why he is bulking up It's a positive that he appears to be doing something about it
Doesn't matter tbh, because the point still stands. Dubios has been stopped twice by jabs in his career, whereas Parkers only stoppage loss was to a relentless Joyce, which still took 11 rounds. Personally I think bulking up is a mistake for Parker. Not worry trading off your movement and stamina for a slightly harder punch.
