Think about the great fights Liston would have had with Joe Louis, Ezzard Charles, Jersey Joe Walcott and Rocky Marciano.

He would have been pretty young for a pro … like 35 or so.

Agreed. In the same way I wish Larry Holmes had turned pro in say, 1968.
    It's all about timing.

I would really want to see his fight with Jersey Walcott. Jab vs Footwork

I see him becoming champ by 47-48, in real time he became a meaningful contender 8 years into his career so the same likely applies here. He will have to go through quite a bit of cannon fodder though, I doubt overcoming Bivins, Elmer Ray, Walcott or Charles would be easy tasks but I still see Sonny doing it

You think he could defeat Joe Louis in 47-48? Louis was still quite formidable

If only Holmes was born in 1939 instead of 1949

With the way Liston followed Machen, Ali and Martin around with his jab “ploddingly” I assume Walcott would eventually pull a bait and switch with his fist and close the show.

The 90s would be considered the weakest era in the history of HW ;)
