Well? Who's the smallest fighter you'd favor to weather the frantic pace of Limon to a points victory?

As an interesting aside Limon was always rated as having one of the very best chins in boxing until the numerous wars caught up with him and his chin was compromised. I'm pretty sure it was him that stuck his tongue out at the opponent when tagged hard one time.

Do you agree with the notion that he had an excellent or great chin? I was skimming over his record and noticed he was stopped a few times early in his career by low level opposition. Not sure if cuts or what.

All those stoppages were within his first 11 fights and before he'd turned 21. Note that they are all TKO's not KO's.

The take home point tho is that Limon put on a pair of gloves for the first time ever in 1972 in the army. After three months of learning he was sent to the great Kid Rapidez, who needs no introduction around these parts. Limon had a lot of ground to make up. He had a rapid 10 month amateur career before going pro. It's hardly known but he killed a guy in the amateurs.

So he was still evolving in a sizable way at the time of those losses. He was 4 years from really hitting his straps. Weaver's another good example, stopped plenty early on but started training and getting serious and he took a damn good punch by the time he was firing on all cylinders.

So yes once he found his feet in 77, say, he had a helluva chin.

And he got hit on the button as much as anyone. Actually more. Who else got beat to the punch when they were that wide open defensively? And by picture perfect right hands?

Yeah he was a bit of a round house man hahaha. He was mostly an arm puncher but damned if he didn't hit hard doing it.

There was another guy whose name I cant remember, who was Mexican and lost his first 18 bouts then found a rhythm and became a ranked contender. This was actually remarked on a Ring Magazine article about Mexican contenders years ago.

He was great and a borderline hall of famer,
He, Mancini, Chacon, Danny Lopez, Gomez, Gatti, Saad Muhamad, Trinudad, Chavez, Louis, Leonard, Duran, Hagler, Hearns, Hamed, Patterson, Pryor, Barrera, Morales, Mugabi, Tyson, Joe Frazier, Ali (specially the 1974-1976 version of Ali} and a few others are in my all-time action fighter team!

Bobby had the potential to do it, considering he gave Limon tough business after that first fight.

I think I'm gonna nominate a flyweight with Midget in his name, and say Midget Wolgast.

He had an unorthodox style, insane footwork and was very fast with his hands and head-movement. But more importantly, he was made of iron and beat half a dozen great featherweights.

Fidel LaBarba might be worth considering as an option for this.
