I agree with you. However, we know that people who sparred with him said he was the hardest puncher they ever faced. Foreman said Liston hit him harder than anyone else. I think Liston's power was comparable to Tyson and almost certainly greater than Witherspoon. Once Liston lands on Bruno, i don't see him surviving.
Liston was a bit more methodical than Tyson, and he had a certain cautiousness to him at times, so it might take longer. But then again, Liston had a much better jab than Tyson. Yet, Bruno had height, reach, really heavy blows, and just a bit of footwork, and was good enough to keep Lennox Lewis and Witherspoon off him for several rounds. I lean towards Liston by late rounds KO, perhaps KO8.
Liston had a better jab than Mike and was a heavier puncher. That said, he wasn't particularly fast. They put on a very good show, Bruno getting off some significant shots. But Frank couldn't deal with the jab and power past 4 rounds imo.
Liston would take one look at those Superalloy Darkshine muscles and know that he was in for a long night. I think either Bruno early or Liston late.
Exactly as I see it--Bruno gives Sonny a good fight early on but eventually Liston lands a power shot and ends it swiftly. KO or stoppage for Sonny roughly 7-8 rounds.
About as far as he did against Lewis. My hunch is he does significantly better than Cleveland Williams. Has Mercer vs Liston been done yet?...
Bruno cannot engage with Sonny Liston so he begins to retreat after early exchanges. If Liston gets riled he'll get Bruno outta there in about 4 rounds. If he's in a patient mood he'll box and bludgeon Bruno to the mat in about 7 or 8.
