My son asked me this question and I couldn't come up with a solid answer. Has there been a great boxing trilogy where the same man won all thee fights? Thanks for your help.
Charles vs Moore. Ezzard won all three. there’s also Fury vs Chisora but I wouldn’t call that a “ great “ trilogy. Still, Fury won all of them
Bob Baker v Rex Layne Jung Koo Chang v German Torres Spider Webb v Rory Calhoun Admittedly, I only saw the Chang v Torres trilogy, but the others were high-profile. Would love to see these fights, though.
A bit lower level, but Johnny Armour vs Francis Ampofo shared 3 great fights - Armour got the decision each time (Which does not necessary mean He won by the way).
Charles vs Moore, Saldivar vs Winstone and Chang vs Torres were the 3 that first came to mind, all have cited by others. Sam Langford fought Battling Jim Johnson 12 (twelve) times without loss, though 3 were draws.
I can't think of any that were great. Like someone already mentioned, you can argue Bowe won all his fights with Holyfield (he threw and out landed Evander by 100 punches in their rematch) although he officially didn't. Those were three great fights. People also argued for years that Manny Pacquiao really won his first fight with Marquez, even though it was a draw. Manny scored three knockdowns. Then Marquez wasted Manny in fight four. Fury-Chisora wasn't a great trilogy. The first fight was good, but Fury got better for every fight and dominated him a little more each time.
Sandy Saddler beat Willie Pep all three times they fought. The other one, Pep got the decision but it was because Sandy was too much of a gentleman to beat poor Willie up four times without throwing him some table scraps.
I'm late, but if someone hasn't mentioned it yet, Vicente Saldivar vs Howard Winstone, Howard was a very good boxer whom as a result from a factory injury back then had to use his left hand more than his right, his fight with Saldivar was like absolute mastery vs calculated hell.
