The penciled fight will presumably be for the Q4 of 2024. The fight will be for the vacant WBC belt left by Teraji in his quest for the same belt in the weight class above. What are guys thoughts on this fight? IMO at first glance Canizales should be the favorite: has fought in the division his entire career and has the larger body of work in terms of opposition. However the fight being in Thailand will help Panya, and something more important to consider. Canizales has fought 24 tough rounds this year against the aforementioned Teraji and Ivan Garcia, and it is possible Canizales could wear and tear from those fights.

Also it begs the question, how the heck did Panay get a shot when he hasn't fought ANYBODY at the division. At times, I feel like sanctioning bodies don't really care about the lower weights and randomly select fighters for their rankings.

On the Asian boxing article, you also have Nishida's first defense some Thai guy in December. However I don't really care about that.

In Thailand for a world title... That's probably the hardest place (along with Argentina) to win a world title by decision. Canizales will need a KO to get the strap.

Thailand is probably where it's gonna be. Canizales has always been a road warrior, this wouldn't be too much of a concern for him.

Canizales seems the better fighter of the two and the fresher. If they have Thai judges, he'll either need absolute dominance to get a decision or a stoppage. If they have neutral judges, Canizales should win fairly comfortably I imagine.

Yeah but if that's the case he will need a KO to win cause there's no way he's getting the decision there. I'll be rooting for him that's for sure.
