After that Dubois beating AJ needs a pushover, saying that he might **** himself during the stare down I favour AJ 70/30
To build up his career, he's going to have to do it the old way, by robbing graves. I think he should start with Bob Fitzsimmons and then move up to Babe Ruth, Elgin Baylor, and then maybe Wilt Chamberlain before he takes on Muhammad Ali or Hank Aaron. I'd pay quite a bit to see Elgin Baylor again. He's my all-time sports idol, starting when I was 7 years old. I'm not kidding. I guy can dream, can't he? Actually, I'd rather see Mike go 1 on1 against Elgin on a basketball court.
I only saw this clip after the fact of the fight. Addressing both LL and Holy, Mike says “Tell me something…tell me something” “Hmmm, you’re getting paid 20 million for this” Okay, that wasn’t said. As it was, only Lennox stepped up to the plate but there was a notable lack of genuine enthusiasm and conviction in his words. I was waiting for Lennox to tag himself with “Sorry Mike, but that’s all I’ve got…” Ominous scenes. However, it was great to see the three legends together. This content is protected
What always gets me is the delusion. In terms of tysons sitting their at 58 years old almost died 3 months ago. Knee looks knackered. The backs knackered....sciataca so bad that puts him in a wheelchair when it flares up. 20 years smoking heavy weed. 20 years since the last fight. Like your up against it with any one of them things even if you once we,re the great mike tyson. And hes sitting going not long till the big party meaning till i get out there and beat him up. Pretty sure if that was me in that position i,d be saying to lennox and holyfield. This probably isnt going to end well is it. Its like some kind of false confidence to try to get themselves believing it might do the trick.
Just imo, the irony is that Mike was always probably the least deluded among the many fans who felt he’d steam roll Jake. Mike being in complete touch with where he was really at. The money was the carrot, - but as the fight drew nearer, the already self realised reality on Mike’s part of him of getting in there and having nothing to give, appears to have hit him that much harder. For me, asking them to “Tell me something” was almost like an appeal for rationale as to why Mike was even there in the first place, doing what he was about to do. Before the fact of the fight, Mike’s appearance of being lost and musing “What am I even doing here?” was as sad as the fight itself.
He's not what he was, obviously. But I'm sure he has enough left to deter you from saying that to his face.
Totally agreed. I say deluded in my post but i got the feeling anyway that he was looking for something as well because he knew what condition he was really in. The only bit of delusion was the lets get the party started bit. I think it was the part he goes from help me out with something lads because the bodies knackered and i m up against it here he then uses a bit of delusion probably because lewis didnt really have a great inspirational speech for him. So he tries to delude himself. I never really get when people do that. Its a bit like the pressures already on here. You,ve got lots of people genuinely believing your going to batter a 27 year old into submission looking like your back in your prime. When the reality is your fresh out a wheelchair almost dead 3 months ago at 58 with serious health and injury issues. And still thinking putting even more pressure on yourself might be worth a shot. Pretty sure i,d be like we,ll have a go lads...see what happens.
