He was never The Champion though. Always second fiddle.

Everyone else in the top ten was legitimately the best HW in the world.

My answer to both Wilder and Joshua getting into the IBHOF is the same: yes they will both get in, but it’s highly debatable whether either of them “deserve” it.

The bar for getting into the IBHOF is low, and seeing as both were undefeated champions for multiple years (Wilder for 5 years, Joshua for 3 years), as well as being PPV stars, it’s guaranteed they both make it, as let’s face it the IBHOF is a popularity contest.

So as far as the current IBHOF is concerned, yes they “deserve” it, as they’d be joining fighters who they had better careers than.

But if it were up to me, I would have the IBHOF a more exclusive club of only super-elite fighters, and neither Wilder nor Joshua would make the cut.

The standard for HW is not as high in comparison to other divisions. Plus as good as I believe Vitali is he and Wilder’s title reigns are very similar. That should be an indicator that Wilder will get in.

I think he should get in. And I have enjoyed watching many of his fights.

Michael Moorer only just got inducted this year, 20 years after his retirement and he was better than Wilder. If Wilder does get in it would be one of the weak cases that's drawn out and won't be in for a long time.

7 out of his 10 successful title defences were against non-rated competition, comparing to only 2 out of 9 in Tyson's case, not counting Fury and Larry Holmes. Mike also fully unified all the belts of his day, beat every contender available and had a valid claim to the lineal heavyweight title. You can't compare these two situations.
