Stuff like this gives me hope that perhaps there is a chance we could find something of a prime Sullivan, sure maybe not film but a motion picture of sorts. This technology existed as early as 1878 after all.

even that shows Proper Movement better than most of the Old Film Footage.

see, people were just the same in what they did, which in Boxing was FIGHT, loads of times!

Makes Corbett’s thong look modest by comparison.

Straighter punching and better head movement than in Corbett Fitz or any Jeffries footage.

Are you certain this is 1887? I'm skeptical.

Not to be smart but I’m not sure what the basis is for your scepticism is - it might be for a reason I’m not aware of.

As far as the tech for chrono photography goes, it appears that it was there some time prior to 1887 - the examples below dated between 1873 to 1878 - the fluidity of some of the examples being better than the image stream of the boxers.

Footage like that is rare for a few decades after that and it looks very clean. Rarity isn't the same thing as technological ability though I get that.

Not at all, my source is some rando on a bare knuckle history Facebook group lol. He’s a reliable poster imo, for what it’s worth.

It's definitely from 1887. I'm surprised nobody recognized this. It's a (very small) excerpt from Edward Muybridge's The Figure in Motion.

Edit: I've had this tab open for several days and didn't reread the thread before posting. Looks like someone actually beat me to it.
