DID EDWIN VALERO’S TRAGIC DOWNFALL EXPOSE THE DARK SIDE OF BOXING’S CULTURE?

What do you think? Was Valero’s fall an inevitable result of his own flaws, or does the boxing world share some responsibility for not stepping in sooner? I’d love to hear your thoughts after you check out the video.

 

As always it was a combination of things.

Truthfully the english speaking world knew little of his private life and shenanigans while he was alive.
After he passed we found out about his upbringing and everything.
To be a professional fighter you have to be a little crazy in the head anyway but his demons were at another level.

 

Edwin had a TBI. People dont understand what that means unless youre in the medical field. Edwin could NEVER be a "good guy" following the TBI - it just doesnt happen and there's a well-established body of literature demonstrating that.

Boxing culture had nothing to do w Edwin's downfall, his motorcycle accident had 100% to do w it

 

Nah,it s well documented now that he was a street thug on drugs and booze since he was 12,way becore the motorcycle injury.
He was always gonna end up bad with or without TBI.

 

There’s absolutely nothing anyone could’ve done. A sport like this isn’t going to attract a lot of good civilians. If you’re consistently winning fights in exciting fashion, your personal life is pretty much irrelevant in the boxing world. Just look at someone like Mike Tyson. He was assaulting people left and right on the streets, beat his wife, caught a **** case, and all anyone cared about was watching him fight.

 

I was closely following his career at the time and was looking forward to some great fights. In retrospect I don't think he'd have had a lengthy career at least not successfully with his lack of discipline.

 

Lots of people do drugs and booze but don't kill their child and wife.

 

I once heard a story that the WBC organised for a kid to be taken off the streets and paid for him to do rehab. The kid was drug addicted and homeless and his health was apparently very bad.

I've always thought it might have been Valero that the story was about.

 

And lots due.
As far as I know only the wife was the victim.

 

I think the dark side of boxing was well known long before Valero. Frankly it gives boxing added allure.

 

You could say the same about boxin

 

TBI is truly insane when you read into it. Can just completely change you.

 

Believe she was pregnant?

 

Oh, well I guess it's half okay then.

 

There were a cocktail of reasons for Valero's downfall. Boxing was only one of them.
