    Chavez Jr ?

The fight wouldn't have to be rigged for Jake to win. The only thing of note Jr. did after 160 was getting knocked out by Fonfara, and losing to Canelo and Silva. I wouldn't favor him in a fight vs Jake Paul. Jr is just looking for a payday.

It wasn't an exhibition, it was a sanctioned bout, which shows on both of the boxers records.

We've never seen him in a real fight with anyone of champion caliber, but the safe bet is not likely, there's plenty of footage where Tyson had him/could have finished him and didn't per the contract or whatever

Dempsey might actually kill the SOB

Honestly, I feel like this is the case even if you accept the idea that early era fighters like Sullivan, Corbett, Fitzsimmons, Jeffries were primitive. Mike Perry sure as **** fits the category of crude and primitive and he bullied Jake and pushed him backward despite being significantly outweighed. I feel like Jake crumbles the moment they actually apply effective pressure and inside fighting.

They're all still basically LPRR fighters with gloves on because there isn't any old masters of the QB style to train them, BUT, I think being trained purposefully for elements of boxing that no longer apply and being under developed are two distinct forms of primitive

For example, all of them are well trained for the endurance contest that was boxing up to that point and I doubt any here has enough neck to claim Perry has the ability to go as many rounds as they have logged in record books.

    NO also.

However he might’ve carved out an alternate P T Barnum-like career pivoting on the axiom that there’s a sucker born every minute.

I respect your opinion and wouldn’t dismiss the possibility out of hand but I think we saw the natural effects of age on Mike.

There were some vague glimpses of the old Mike seeing some minor successes but no follow ups. Of the few punches Mike did land, there was a jab and a few body shots that had clearly had Paul wincing and still leery early in the piece.

However, going all the way back to the Lewis fight even, Mike did some nice things at the every beginning but after just a few rounds, that was all she wrote. He basically seized up
    and became a sitting duck.

I can’t imagine an ulterior reason for Mike to look as bad as he did in the open work out - vision that was very much in defiance of the previous, heavily edited clips of Mike training in the lead up.

At the open workout, everything looked off, not least being Mike’s legs, balance and fatigue after a relatively short period of exertion.

Vs Prime Mike? Paul would’ve been just another first round KO victim, among Mike’s fastest KOs ever.

Seriously? Even the forum whipping boy James J Corbett would gut Jake like a fish.

I saw Chavez Jnrs last fight against a former MMA dude making his boxing debut I think. It was a close fight that Chavez only just won by close decision and he looked terrible.

No. Maybe he could try his luck against Joe Louis if we dropped him into 1938

Don't think he'd have beaten any decent welters.
