I find you one of the most knowledgeable posters on this board... but Mike Tyson doesn't deserve a spot here?

A panel from ESPN voted the top boxer from each state years back. I'm pretty sure that the guy they considered to be the best ever from Wyoming had a 24-25 career record. Don't remember the details, but I'm pretty sure this was pre-1940. He beat some top guys from his day. Can't recall the weight class.

I know it's not much to go off of, but does anybody know who this may have been?

    You flatter me sir.

Based on p4p career achievements, or "greatness"? No, imo.

Britton is my #5 on this list and he's also my #5 all time WW. His resume at WW is insane. He also did good work at LW which doesn't factor into my ranking of him at WW. Whereas Tyson is my #10 at HW.

Based on peak p4p H2H, which isn't my bag, would likely yield a different answer.

I have a feeling that were Jack Dempsey born in New York he would make the list. However, I am much more impressed with Tyson's accomplishments than Dempsey's. They both had a similar prime. Jack just stretched his stay at the top longer by inactivity and picking soft touches.

Not my list, Dempsey is my #14 at HW, 4 slots below Tyson.

Texan here. We’ve got Jack Johnson and George Foreman.

And we currently have Bam Rodriguez.

Curtis Cokes, Donald Curry, Bert Lytell and the Canizales brothers weren't too shabby either.

At least you have a reasonable heavyweight list. I'm still taking Tyson over Tunney.

Purely based on resume at HW? Agreed.

H2H cross era fantasy fights aren't my bag, but let's just say you'd get no argument from me there, either.

P4P ATG wise, though, it's Tunney and not not even close, imo.

Tunney is #20 on all time p4p list, whilst Tyson doesn't make the top 50. I don't have a top 100 yet, but he wasn't on the best top p4p all time top 100 list I saw either.

From Pennsylvania here. We've got Harry Greb, my personal pick for number 1 pound for pound boxer of all time.

Then there's people like Tommy Loughran, Bernard Hopkins, Joe Frazier, Charlie Burley and loads of others that I'm forgetting.
