Was Norton's fight with Holmes better than his trilogy with Ali? Prime Norton was at his best in his first fight with Ali, where Ali underestimated him. But did the Ali from the rematch deal with Norton better than Holmes did with Norton? Which fights do you find more interesting and exciting: Ali vs. Norton or the war between Norton and Holmes?
It’s worth mentioning that Norton said Ali was his toughest opponent, but it seems to me that he had a better fight with Holmes.
It's not even a contest TBH Holmes vs Norton is considered one of the greatest fights of all time. None of the Norton vs Ali fights are that memorable although the 2nd fight is a solid fight. I'd rank them in this order. 1. Holmes vs Norton 2. Norton vs Ali 2 3. Norton vs Ali 3 4. Norton vs Ali 1
Hmm, interesting how Larry would fare against the younger (1973) Norton from the second fight with Ali. After all, the Norton Holmes fight was very close.
No contest. Holmes-Norton is a top 5 heavyweight fight of all-time. The best Ali-Norton fight # 2 probably would not even make the 50 heavyweight greatest fights of all-time
in this case, still Larry. Norton was difficult for him in terms of style, but they both matured quite late, Norton looked really good in this fight and I don't think he could be much better. At the same time, I believe that he was not prime Holmes yet, although he was very close
I liked Ali-Norton 2 more because Ali tried every colourful tactic in the book to scrape a win while being in great shape (although i felt he was maybe overtrained for that one) Holmes was great but his style is a little bit more jab heavy and effective at least against Norton.
Easily Holmes-Norton was more exciting. One of the very few Holmes fights one would ever watch twice.
