Tunney comfortably. Tunney would have a decent outside shot at beating even the peak Foreman. He will be far more mobile than the sluggish Moorer, who won nearly every round before getting knocked out with one shot. No chance in hell Tunney will be put away that easily even if Foreman hurts him. Tunney’s chin, discipline & commitment to the cause far exceed Moorer’s.
Might be an interesting fight. Tunney is outgunned in size and strength and chin but he's an excellent technical fighter who is much younger and faster than Old Foreman. Foreman's jab is longer and heavier but again, much slower and less crisp. I think I'd give Tunney a decent shot so long as he doesn't get brave and exchange.
Give George 12 rounds and he corners and demolishes Tunney. Head to head, Tunney is not in Moorer's league, not the pop, not the quicks, not the fluidity. Levels, people. Levels.
Tunney would probably run rings around Big George but Foreman would eventually catch up to him and stop him it would be a very frustrating night for Big George though.
Yeah that's the thing, if Foreman catches up to Tunney it will get messy. Morrison boxed Foreman's ears off until he started to run out of steam and it got a bit dicey ...
Foreman is so much bigger than Tunney but he's also much much slower so I do feel it would be very frustrating for Foreman catching up to Tunney. But still Foreman did have good timing and I do think he would be able to land eventually on Tunney. I think stylistically Tunney matches up well vs Foreman but I think the size difference might be a little too much.
Tunney is no Morrison who was able to box & move to a decision win If Tunney had no whiskers or lacked heart, I could maybe see a case for Foreman…but he was a rock-jawed, iron-hearted fighter of superb discipline & instinct. Foreman can hurt Tunney (if he ever hits him, which I doubt), but he isn’t going to put him out with one shot like Moorer, & doesn’t have the energy levels needed to finish the job like his younger self could. Tunney will win nearly every round in this.
Correct. But also Tunney is a crappy stylistic matchup for Old Foreman. My only concern would be: can Tunney box effectively off the backfoot for the entire fight and how effective would Foreman's jab be? If Foreman could effectively employ his jab which was slow but well timed, Tunney would struggle. Over 8 I'd pick Tunney. Over 12 ... not so sure.
