Supposedly two but one was at the very end of his career when he was one fight away from retirement so hardly something I'd hold against him.

Peak Riddick Bowe won by decision over Holyfield two weeks after Lewis destroyed Ruddock.
Bowe never really wanted to avenge his defeat at the Olympics, not even in 1992.
Yes; i think Lewis has a chance to win in 1992.

One. IBF to not fight Chris Byrd eyeing the rematch with Tyson for his last pay day.

    One...

...Well, he sold it really, rather than gave it up ('it' being the IBF strap). And, who could blame him? I mean Chris 'no competitive challenge' Byrd, FFS

He was 'stripped' of the other (WBA) - and it had nothing to do with avoiding a challenger, if that's what you'd call John 'Got KTFO in 1 by Tua' Ruiz (and that was all he was known for at that point).

And was stripped after the WBA already gave him permission to fight Grant, who was viewed as the number 1 contender in the world.

    Grant was never no. 1.

John Ruiz was WBA number 1 challenger mandatory. Thats why he fought Evander for the vacant belt.

Readers of the thread can see how Lewis fanboys make excuses for him dodging his no 1 challenger . Blatant hypocrisy being displayed

When was Ruiz installed as the WBA's leading contender?

Prior to Ruiz, who was the WBA's leading contender?

When was the Lewis/Grant fight made?

Yes. But, ultimately, it was poor Lawfare on the part of the Lewis team and some wily wording and argument building from Don King's better legal team that delivered the death blow to both the WBA and Lewis's chances of keeping hold of the belt.

I don't care about the WBA rankings, lol. Ruiz wasn't even considered a Top 10 fighter at the time. Grant was the number 1 contender in the world. And Lewis wanted to fight him anyway but Ruiz decided to duck him.

Yes, that incredible how Lewis is excused whereas Bowe is often vilified for a fight he accepted later.

A lot of people forget that Ruiz was offered a fight by the Lewis team - at which point it became clear King didn't want the fight. He wanted the title to be vacant. I seem to recall that King had already set up the Holyfield/Ruiz bout before the judge had even rendered their decision

Do you buy second hand cars from Rock Newman, as well?

Sorry, but I'm not obsessed with Rock Newman like you seem to be.

Look at how you disparaged Byrd in order to justify why Lewis didn't fight him, after talking about people " making excuses " for Bowe.

    Double standards.

One doesn't need to be obsessed to know that Newman is your only source of evidence that the Lewis/Bowe fight was realistically viable during '93, which you have fully bought into ; even going as far as to state that Lewis backed out of a fight with Bowe - solely on the basis of Newman's mouthing off.

    I haven't disparaged Byrd.

Lewis's own statement on the prospect of a bout with Byrd and why he did not intend to fight him was as follows:
