Sanders is more skilled but Peter is tough, durable and hard hitting. Honestly I think anything could happen in this one. Not sure who I’d pick. I bet it would be an action packed fight no matter who won.
I have Sam Peter in this one via UD. No one knows from fight to fight which version of Corrie Sanders is going to turn up. He had an erratic party boy lifestyle outside of the ring. He was up for the Klit fights and produced career best performances in the win against Wlad and loss against Vitali. However, I have seen him against lesser known boxers go life and death with them. I think based on the psychology of him not seeing Peter as a threat, that Peter catches him cold, drops him and wins a decision. I do not think Peter is the kind of opponent that Corrie would feel he needed to train properly for and this would be his downfall.
Best for best I'll take Sanders. But destruction has a point that a flat version of Sanders could find himself in trouble. Peter was kind of crude but he had a great chin and clubbing strength. I think he's become underrated since Wlad and Vitali spanked him and he dragged his career out far too long.
Sanders was the better boxer and the bigger puncher but was as apt to gas and drift out of a fight as he was to take a decision against a 'trier' like Peter, who just wouldn't give up. Sanders might be able to take Peter out early though, so this is a toss-up, in my book. I'd give it a pass from a betting perspective.
He had specifically problems with his knees iirc which precluded roadwork and which caused him to have minimal sparring. Compare that somewhat soft version to the version that fought Puritty and you can see they are night and day in terms of mobility. If you'd watched the fight you might recall the commentators remarking that Sanders looked a bit bloated. And if you'd watched the interview after the fight you'd have heard the interviewer specifically address the awful camp Sanders had had.
Actually, all I've ever heard about Sanders in my entire time following boxing was that he was lazy, & lacked both drive and dedication. He was more interested in living well then being in fighting shape and it's reflective throughout the entirety of his career. Even in the Wlad fight, it wasn't as if he boxed some masterful bout aided by great stamina. He fought to his strengths and blitzed Wlad.
Can you point to a single fight where Sanders doesn't look and fight like a guy who rolled off the couch and who trained on the golf range? He had gifts and squandered them. Dude had one big night and came up short every other time. Sander's didn't have the mentality to be a world class heavyweight boxer.
