Last fight you watched that would have been stopped now?

    interesting thread because there are quite a few modern day fights that even by old day standards should/would have been stopped earlier.

    Some of Jack Dempsey's fights would have been stopped earlier today. Two that quickly come to mind are Dempsey - Willard (in the first round) and Dempsey - Firpo (in the first round, and we would not have that iconic painting of Firpo knocking Dempsey out of the ring later in that same round).

    Yeah, I was far from the only one on boxing forums at the time in 2000 that immediately criticized Nady for how long it took for him to stop Trinidad-Vargas. It’s not like 2000 was the 1950s. We had already gotten more reasonable.

    That fight was only a couple months after Roy Jones-Richard Hall and Larry Merchant was saying “the ref should be pistol whipped” for taking so long to stop it.
