It's a very unique record. You're not going to find many whose victories account for just 21% of their bouts (a mere 12 of 57) and yet have multiple conquests of recognizable and world rated names like Wolfgramm, Sanders and Hunter - plus the draw with Mercer and two close SD losses to Norris.

I think he should be considered a contender or a fringe contender. Always hanging around the top 10 to 15.

Chisora has several times contended, so he is not a journeyman.

He's kind of a gatekeeper to the elite.

Bert Cooper comes to mind as someone comparable.

Jimmy Young should have wins over Ali and Foreman according to most
Would have been the only person to have wins over both

Chisora is a limited plodder who features in snoozefests. He is also a shameless camera hog who utters indecipherable poppycock to all and sundry, whilst donning a cringe-inducing WAR cap.

    Insufferable berk.

He's the journeyman equivalent of the hype-brand stars and has big money and media promotion behind him completely disproportionate to his results.
Don't forget he was supposed to be the 'AJ' of the time but Fury (and Vitali and Haye to a degree) thwarted that.
He was then converted into a 'people's champ' brand and promoted in that direction.

The reason he got so many big fights is clearly because he's actually a journeyman name-brand that they know they can make money from.

There are plenty of HW's who could fill his role but they'll never get those fights because they don't have the UK money and media behind them.

There's nothing special about him. He's the luckiest mediocrity in the world.

Usyk is technically a better journeyman than Chisora since Chisora usually fights at the comforts of his home.

    Won 70 times by KO.

23 of his KOs were in the 1st round.

Fought Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes in world title fights. He hurt Ali in the 2nd round and knocked Holmes down in the 7th round.

Stopped Jimmy Ellis, Ken Norton, Joe Bugner and Jimmy Young and pushed some of the very best in a very tough division.

Shavers was way better than a journeyman.

Kamil Sokolowski is a journeyman. Chisora is a perennial fringe contender.
