But they ain't, Benavidez has the speed and volume and he does not slap he actually hits hard, and Joe is very hittable. Who is the best fighter Joe 'ruined'? It certainly wasn't Robin Reid.

Who you think hits harder between Calzaghe and Benavidez?

Has to be. Andrade and Plant would be 2 of Calzaghes better wins.

Did you see how slow Benavidez's feet and hands were against Plant? He was getting his head boxed off til Plant gassed which wouldn't happen with Calzaghe.

As for punch power people on here are fooling themselves. Calzaghe wasn't hitting as hard in the tail end of his career due to all the hand problems but he still dropped and knocked out a lot of steel chinned fighters in their prime.

Watch the way he dropped Eubank heavily twice, the way he dropped Charles Brewer who'd never been stopped before. Calzaghe was no Malignaggi, when he sat on punches he had some pop, just more often than not he didn't in flurries.

Benavidez probably has a slight edge in power but he's not really a vicious 1 punch KO artist and in pretty much every other area, especially work rate, footwork and boxing ability he's miles behind. No way he's knocking out a prime Calzaghe either.

Gtfoh. Andrade had 1 win at SMW against a journeyman. He's about the level of Evans Ashira. Calzaghe beat 10 world champions and cleared up all the Euro scene mandatories he had for years.

Someone like Mario Veit would batter Andrade at SMW. The only reason he wasn't a champion as well was because Calzaghe was around.

Benavidez doesn't throw as many as Calzaghe. Not even close.

Cazaghe threw about 950 vs. Lacy, over 1000 vs Kessler. Just looked up the punch stats for Benavidez vs Plant, he threw like 551 in that fight. Not only this but Calzaghe is much more active and busy on his feet, more mobile and faster.

Benavidez is explosive but he lumbers around a bit like Frankenstein at times.

you made no mention of why that is. everybody moves away from david, which limits his targets, while fighters chased calz, so he always has a target. you stand in front of david like they did in front of joe, youre gettin pieced up.

I disagree with your reasons why. Ike Ibeabuchi threw over 1000 punches in some of his fights and it wasn't because people were chasing him. Calzaghe threw 1000+ punches in fights because he had an unbelievable gas tank from all the hard training he did. When he needed to sit on his punches he did and he hurt some quality fighters. He had many stoppages over legitimate world class opponents with solid whiskers.

Gavril took it to Benavidez later in the fight and he hurt and dropped Benavidez and pushed him back several times. If Benavidez had this unlimited energy reserve like you say he did and nobody could stand up to his power then that wouldn't be happening against a Euro level fighter like Gavril.

i never implied nobody could stand up to his power, i said he hit harder than joe, which few will disagree with. david hits harder, is longer, and he forces the pace on you with constant pressure. he has been hit flush by strong punchers and i have never seen him seriously hurt. joe is not hurting him.
the more i consider all the angles, the more i like benavidez in the match up. perfect style for him. a guy that needs to be close to you so he can score with his pitty pat punches, allows you to just throw punches with little fear. all he has to do is be aerobically ready and he holds all the other edges naturally.

Benavidez is overrated. You better hope he dominates Morrell

Andrade never proved he was world class and Plant was overrated, I didn`t see anything that special about Plant, neither of them was better than Kessler who had more power than Plant.
