I missed it up until this point so maybe others did too or maybe I missed it so much I didn't hear about the fallout either. After Joshua loses to Usyk he says he felt like he won and Usyk only got the nod because of the Ukraine-Russian war. Everyone responded with giving AJ plenty of criticism. Fury said the exact same thing. He felt like he won and the only reason Usyk got the nod was because of the war. Nothing about his mental state. Nothing about poor sportsmanship. Just nothing said at all. What's up with that?
Neither of them handled the loss very well, but worse things have happened in the history of the sport. At least neither of them claimed that they were poisoned/drugged.
As far as excuses go, claiming that a ring walk robot costume with all the bells and whistles, (voluntarily and proudly worn mind you), drained your energy before first bell just might take the cake. Jeopardy style answer to the question: - “Who is Deontay Wilder?”
I think there was some criticism but difficult to quantify exactly how much for comparison purposes, though AJ might’ve been vilified more for the same comments.
I don't think AJ said that. He had an epic meltdown, but there were no excuses or insults on his part.
