I just want to add that you don't really get an idea of how good Proksa was in the GGG fight. RJJ and the commentator remark that he was probably a harder challenge than Pirog which is high praise indeed. Here's a fight for context that shows Proksa off in all his herky jerky twitchy pomp. Proksa commits GBH and mugs former IBF champion Sebastian Sylvester at home: This content is protected
I'll have to go with Jacobs, and Canelo 1 and 2. He went 12 hard focused rounds against the very best in the division. Jacobs was huge and fighting out of his skin for that fight, but GGG was 100 % focused defensively and offensively. Also, his 2 best wins that the judges and the establishment stole from him vs Canelo. He beat Canelo going forward and then he beat him by boxing. All three of those fights pushed him harder than anybody ever else did, outside of Ouma of course. Canelo would still be a legend today if they didn't steal the victory, it was unnecessary to take away GGG'S biggest legacy wins and hand them to Canelo instead.
I also loved his performance against Murata at the age of 40. Murata came in their against GGG like it was already the rematch. As everybody knows that after Murata loses to you the first time, he comes back the 2nd time and takes them out early, destroying them. Golovkin had the 2nd fight Murata the first time around. What i liked about that fight was how GGG let his hands go to the body and head. He also landed his patented corkscrew shot multiple time's , along with devastating left hooks. It was just brutal, but GGG was tested in that fight.
Barely anyone said Canelo 1? a fight he clearly won? Instead mentioning beating up some old japanese never been like Murata? Puzzling.
Yep the Proska fight was the first time I had seen GGG and that was impressive. I thought Proska was good based on the Sylvester fight and GGG took him apart with ease.
Looking back I love watching GGG fights where he didn't respect the opponents power he just walked through their shots and allowed them to hit him like Geale and Monroe. The Brook fight was different because Brook was naturally smaller and I think that the beautiful uppercut Brook landed pissed GGG off haha.
The way he beat up Martin Murray was pretty impressive as Murray had looked good in his previous world title fights but was completely dominated and bullied by GGG even though Murray was considerably bigger than GGG.
If Canelo 1 and 2 are considered GGG's best performances, then doesn't that go against the narrative that he was past his prime by then as many GGG fans argued? How does one's best performances occur after he had already started to decline?
The same way a lot of people think that Mayweather's performance at 36 years old against Canelo is one of his finest. So for a 35 year old GGG to dominate a prime Canelo 8 rounds to 4 that is pretty impressive and shows that if Canelo had the balls to fight GGG after winning the title off Cotto he likely would've taken and even bigger ass kicking.
