What if...when Duràn was retired,he heard a news that Leonard had moved up and Curry was the champ...

Interested,he took on a few tune ups before facing Milton McCrory, after somehow winning,he faced against the younger, faster Curry as a part of his path to redemption...

    Who wins?

Duran was better at welter than at higher weights, Curry`s reach advantage may have been too much for Duran by that stage but the Duran from Montreal would have beaten Curry.

I do think he still had a good chance of getting Curry, Curry uses a high, Catskills gym like guard, and looking from how Duràn dealt with super middleweight Paz who has the same guard,he had a chance of beating Curry via decision, but since it's a prime, very sharp Curry it's hard to think of.

The Palomino/Montreal Duran takes Curry apart.

Duran batters him, Curry too stiff, Duran would be setting up punches over the top with level changes, would be going up and down with the jab, he’d beat him on the inside with body to head combos and would use clinch work to create space for punches he’d walk Curry onto punches using feints.
Duran could beat him any way he wanted to.

In the 80s, it all depends on which Duran shows up. I think Duran's style is too much for him. Curry was a bit straight up and stiff as others have mentioned, and I think Duran's brawling style gives him a big problem. I was a big Curry fan at the time but was totally baffled when Honeyghan beat him.

Montreal Duran does what Honeyghan did to him be aggressive not allowing Curry to get punching room and stops him.

I realize Curry was not at his best vs Honeyghan with the weight problem but I still feel Duran's style would cause him the same problems.

I think Duran at his best wins at both weights honestly Welterweight or Jr Middleweight Curry didn't really convince me at Jr Middleweight.
