Jarvis quite impressive in stopping him in 6. Mainly target practice. Perhaps a prem stoppage but it only saved him from a longer bullying and more bruises.
What ever happened with Brad Pitt? Won the Super 8 cruiserweight tournament, buggered off for a couple of years, beat Jorge Olivera, then gone quiet for eight years?
Brock Jarvis calling out Nikita Tszyu. Could actually make for an interesting fight but Nikita's durability would probably see him favourite. Michael Zerafa was on the commentary team last night in Sydney and although I didn't hear every word he spoke, I didn't hear him make any mention of wanting to fight Nikita Tszyu. He even made the point of saying that there's a guy at his gym he'd like to see fight Nikita.
Sunday morning Australian time for Teremoana's first pro fight in a couple of years. Will be interesting to see how he approaches his boxing from here on because he is a very different cat and in interviews leading up to the Olympics didn't sound that interested in making boxing even a medium term thing let alone his focus as a long term career.
I'm not sure what he is into today but he went into the family business of commercial fishing and distribution, which is pretty lucrative if you want to put in the work. I think his motivation waned after having so many fights fall through but I didn't realise he had one of the most active periods of his career after he picked up that loss.
Towards the end, Pitt suffered a very serious break in one of his hands. He uploaded an X Ray and there were wires and screws, and it looked horrendous.
From Australian Boxing Central this morning; "Sam Goodman’s December 24th world title clash against Japanese megastar Naoya Inoue in Tokyo has been postponed, after the Aussie boxer suffered a cut over his left eye in while sparring today. Devastating news for Sam Goodman and team. "
Huseyin Cinkara has pulled out of the clash with Opetaia due to injury. New opponent likely announced Monday.
Looking forward to Justis Huni v Shaun Potgieter on 8 January. I've seen people complaining about the South African as an opponent but I think it's a good matchup. Both have had eleven pro fights & Potgieter has had more kayo wins. Like that fellow on Wednesday night against Conor Wallace, the South African will fight to win which will make for an exciting fight while it lasts. South Africa has a more distinguished history in Heavyweight boxing than what we do (as does New Zealand) but I would contend that's about to change as we embark on what has the potential to be an historic era in Australian boxing. Huni nearly came unstuck against one South African & this fellow will be his second. I think it's time to send a message that we're not playing around down here & for Justis to put a serious whooping on him.
Teremoana TKO 1 this morning. Dropped his opponent three times in the first. Will be fighting on the Jai Opetaia show on 8 January. That show now features Jai Opetaia, Justis Huni & Teremoana Jr. I wonder if Aussie Dave Nyika might make an appearance as Jai's opponent? Anyone going along will need to take sunglasses in order to watch.
