Greg Haugen immediately comes to mind. No special attributes as a fighter; no big power, average hand and footspeed, didn't have flawless technique or a superb skillset. And yet, he was tough, crafty and smart enough as a counterpuncher to be a very solid fighter.

These are the sort of fighters to watch and learn from! All the top guys are gifted in some ways but the closest guy to answer your question the best I can is Buddy McGirt.

Probably one of the best examples to be had.

He was also hurt by Kessler and Dirrell.

Froch had an excellent chin, but it wasn’t granite. Neither Dirrell nor Taylor are considered big punchers at 168lbs.

If you had predicted Froch’s amazing success at world level early on, then I must say you are very perceptive and I congratulate you.

I got one. That most may disagree with.
He was a technical marvel , and was
great simply because of the TIME
He put in to master the art of boxing.
    Marvin Hagler.
Other than the out of worldly chin
What made him great was Spartan training
    and dedication.
He became A GREAT fighter simply because he wanted too....

Daniel Zaragoza would definitely fit the criteria.

Ricardo Mayorga imo. He was more reckless and inconsistent than anything else.

Hard to say knowing he's a high hitter, but yeah, he's probably just like a better Yuh,hard, but not one shotting enough power and a good chin.

He hits hard, and he had a chin too.
That height did give him slight advantage.
