I think Floyd thought Maidana was an easier fight. Simple as that. Agree to disagree.

Even back then, Mayweather knew that Khan would be a complete joke fight. Even a bigger joke than the Guerrero and Ortiz fights.

I would even go far enough to say that Berto was a better pick than Khan.

I don’t think Mayweather is crazy enough to think that Khan would be a more difficult fight than anyone.
Reality is, he knew a fight with Khan would spark laughter all over.

I'll leave out the fact Floyd would have dominated Khan had they actually fought.

First, a poll is irrelevant, Maidana was streaking because he had beaten "Great Value Floyd", that's the fight everyone other than Khan fans wanted to see. Floyd always picked fighters that had just come off their biggest wins (except Berto) because that's when their name recognition is highest. Khan never had any big wins like that over an American at WW until Devon and that was after Floyd/Maidana II. You may need to check your dates.

Them after Floyd beat Maidana 2X, his next fight was Pac (and there's no person on Earth who would be clamoring to see Amir get a shot over Pac). Even before Devon, Khan beat Collazo which was a good win, but right before that he barely beat Kid Diaz (if the fight was anywhere else on Earth other than the UK he would've lost), then the same month Floyd and Pac fought (2015) Amir went life and death with Chris freakin Algieri. There was no point in that timeframe that Amir even deserved a shot at Floyd or Manny.

Regardless of Mayweather being favourite to win, Khan has the qualities Mayweather despised, namely hand speed and throwing in bunches.

So he fought the slower opponent who he was supposed to beat easily...who khan had already beaten earlier. Typical Mayweather.

Why is the poll irrelevant if it was Mayweather who set it up?

Khan makes too many mistakes to beat Floyd.

Maidana vs Mayweather 1 was a better fight then Mayweather vs Khan would have been imo

I'm glad it happened that way. Khan is useless and only has himself to blame because his mouth costed him fights

Khan isn't good enough to have been ducked by Floyd.

Don't misunderstand. I'm not suggesting that Floyd shouldn't have fought Khan. Rather I am outright rejecting the entirely implausible notion that Floyd "ducked" Khan because he was afraid he'd lose to him.

Indeed, the very idea of Amir Khan outboxing Floyd over 12, since he sure as **** wasn't stopping him, is utterly preposterous.

Yeah Floyd would’ve beaten him but he wouldn’t have iced Khan the same way Danny Garcia did. It would’ve gone 12 rounds and I don’t think Floyd wanted to risk looking bad against a guy who had been brutally KO’d before by lesser fighters.
