As much as I like Usyk, that is a bit dramatic. His HW resume is beating a handful of British dudes in what has always been viewed as a weak era.

Doesn't have the numbers, but GOAT is subjective
Certainly proved he's the greatest of his own time and p4p he's right in the mix all time

Ali is my heavyweight goat, but If someone wants Usyk or Lewis? By all means, there is no right answer

Usyk has 7 fights at heavyweight. He had 2 competetive (dont care what anybody says) fights with a past prime Tyson Fury (who most of this forum doesnt rate that highly unless its when arguing postively for Usyk, interestingly enough) and Dubious. Struggled vs Chisora and had a tuneup vs Witherspoon and now is ahead of Ali, Louis, Holmes, Lennox Lewis etc.

    Just stop it

Haha ridiculous to think that todays heavyweight division is better than it used to be because the sport is more globalized. Reality is that the best big athletes today play other sports (basketball, football, baseball, rugbee etc.)

A lot of the heavyweight division are guys who failed to make it in other sports and rerouted to boxing. Same as the UFC Heavyweight division with Ngannou.

Look at how far Wilder and Joshua got and they got into it late.

Wilder started boxing at 20. He wanted to be a football player.

Imagine if the NBA didnt have so much money and top NBA players like Lebron James, Zion Williamson, Anthony Edwards, Jimmy Butler etc would compete in boxing.

Todays heavyweight era is not as strong. Its just that more countries compete in it.

    Totally agree with this.

Strictly as a heavyweight Usyk might be at the end of my top 10

Wilder nearly beat that same fighter who had a similar weight advantage when they fought.

    Hilarious.

Is he **** the GOAT.. You think Fury & bum Joshua are as skilled as the 15 round legends like Walcott, Moore & Charles that Marciano beat? Ali beat Liston, Foreman, Frazier, Patterson etc.. beating a giant bag of blubber twice is better than beating that run of HWs is it? Give up.. i like Usyk hed have stacked up un any era but come on now...

Another thing for the haters to consider is this:

Usyk beat Joyce and other notable HW's fighting at heavyweight, in a semi-pro WBSS league. This may be dismissed by many, but for those outraged by Usyk's lofty status and relative few fights, there's much to digest. These were 5 round, professional style fights among elite competition with no headgear. Is this really that different than a fighter who turns pro earlier and squares off with other highly rated prospects? One could easily argue it's even more impressive than the typical step up around fight #15-20.

Another crucially overlooked component to Usyk's resume is Michael Hunter. Modern cruiserweights weigh in at 200 and fight around 210 or 215. Usyk and Hunter compete at heavyweight around 220. How different is 5 lbs among men this size? This would have been a heavyweight fight in the 70's (as would all of Usyk's career, and those of his opponents). The then undefeated Michael Hunter showed great skill but was dominated and the fight realistically should have been stopped in the 12th. Hunter went on the stop the CURRENT boogeyman Bakole at HW, beat Ustinov, Kuzmin, and fight on even terms with Povetkin.

Usyk has A level wins, but people seem to be crying about his lack of B tier wins. Joyce and Hunter fit the bill.

Bruh you are going too soft. LOL

I too will admit that Usyk has proven to be the best of the current crop.

But GOAT? No way! Top 20 sure. Top 15 alright ok. Top 10 that’s a stretch. Top 5 absolutely not.

you could include his cw record and he would still be short of elite wins in comparison to tested and proven greats. he is a very good fighter, just like tank is, but the wins against tested and proven opposition just arent there. tanks resume is by choice, usyk by circumstance, but the opposition is what the opposition is. in 20 years, who do you really think boxing heads are going to look at as proof of usyks greatness from the cw division? because his hw resume is just not there. in terms of completeness, he is an excellent fighter, elite level. with proper direction, you can get him competing with anyone.... but he doesnt have the scalps.
