Did Usyk pretend he got hit low during the fight with Dubois?

It you say so. It was definitely not a nut shot. I am no male belly button expert.

You don't aim to intentionally hit each other below the belly button

Every situation is different
Ie caught different, caught in a different place, not hit as hard etc

I think David Adelayde said it right on the talksport show. Adelayde said that if ref would not call a low blow - Usyk would get up and finish the round to recover. So, Usyk was very clever to gain as much time as possible, a little theater. Btw. It WAS a LOW blow.

Why ?
To win the fight . He was not able to eat dubois' body shots anymore and needed the up to 5 mins break to recover.

Faking a ball shot did the trick to buy recovery time

 

If Usyk had landed that punch, it wouldn't have been called low by the ref or the forum. It was one of those punches that are sometimes called and sometimes not....I now have a love hate relationship with this wonderful sport, but that was a 'hometown' call....And, Usyk went down in my estimation. He claimed right after the fight and for days afterwards that he'd been hit in the balls, despite the fact he demonstrably wasn't. I think he is a master boxer and now head and shoulders the best of his generation, and I think he'd likely clearly beat Daniel again...but I think a rematch would be the honourable thing, and he has always struck me as a man of honour.

 

How could Usyk pretend to get hit low when the footage shows he got hit low? Doesn't that sort of defeat the object of pretending something happened?

 

No. I don’t get why people don’t understand it doesn’t have to be directly to the nuts to be a low blow. He was hit right at the top of the cup. The cup was forced down into his groin on impact. That **** does NOT feel good at all when it happens! Of course that’s going to hurt!

But bottom line is the ref told both fighters where on each fighters body, POINTING EXACTLY WHERE… would be considered low. Dumb dumb dubois ignored those rules. Multiple times. In reality… he could have been disqualified with the right ref.
