Fury winning 5 rounds is the most generous you can give him if you're scoring most of the close rounds to his favor. But in no way did he win 6 rounds, let alone more than that. A draw is just stretching it.
It felt closer because all rounds were quite close Fury never had control like rounds 4-6 and obviously usyk never had him rocking all over the ship Usyk said the fight was easier. What I take from that is, he really was struggling those middle rounds in their first bout and the fight was moving away from him until he hurt Fury and took over The last fight swung his way in rounds 7/8, but this time he seemed to be in a rhythm much earlier and was looking strong by.rounds 4/5 The rounds were mostly competitive, but usyk was landing cleaner shots throughout and out working him towards the end of the rounds I had it 7-5 on the night, but when I watched it the next day, shots I thought that landed on usyk, were being blocked, or he was moving away I think 8-4 is a great card, I scored it 9-3 on the second watch, that's probably a little unfair to Fury I do think giving usyk 10 rounds is a bit harsh
Other questions: Did Fury show superior skills in the rematch? Do you guys thing Fury is satisfied with his perfomance? Did he show absolute masterclass and KOed or totally outpointed Usyk? I don't think so. This was Fury's last chance to prove, that he's miles better than Usyk, after all that crazy middleweight talk of him and his father.
I think he was a lot better at defending the left that usyk hit him with a lot in the first fight....made a big difference. Usyk found it harder to land as cleanly this time round. Fury also pushed on more than he did the first fight. He very rarely pushed on in that first fight. I believe they put the work in in camp the biggest mistake was coming in quite so heavy. Probably more discouraging for fury overall tho. He put everything into this camp and still came up short.
This, spot on! I said the same with Usyk vs Joshua 2 as well - I had that wider than the first in score, even though it was more competetive, Usyk never had the same lull / rounds off / advantage to the other boxer he had in the 1st fight.
I originally had it 10 Usyk 1 Fury 1 (unknown/tv issues during round 5) When I went back to watch round 5, I gave that to Fury as well and my score became 118-110 Usyk. Round 1 could've gone to Fury, neither did much. Round 10 also was very competitive so I could see Usyk winning anywhere between and 8-10 rounds. I can't find more that 4 possible rounds to be able to stretch to give Fury. A draw is out of the question, a Fury win is ridiculous. Incidentally I had the first fight 117-110 Usyk 1st fight there were clear tide changes where one took control over the other. That really didn't exist in the 2nd fight. Uysk was just a bit better nearly throughout the entire fight. Fury couldn't catch up, but he wouldn't let Usyk pull away too far either.
I thought both men were accented that bit more on defence but still put in very respectable efforts for practical output. As fans, we might’ve enjoyed the drama of both men bashing each other in the first fight but I doubt that it was pleasant for either of them, so best to avoid the same punishment somewhat the second time around. I think it was still an excellent fight with perhaps a bit more of a chess match vibe to it. It was interesting to see that noted boxing author Thomas Hauser saw it as a draw though he did reserve himself for a second viewing to score it again. Teddy Atlas on the other hand agreed with the 8-4 verdict for Usyk.
I just rewatched it; I had it 3-3 after 6 then only gave Fury the 9th so 8-4 is the right call. The 10th could have went either way as well but I gave it to the Champ.
This saves me a lot of typing, the fight was very close but Usyk edged most of the rounds, so while 8-4 might seem lopsided. at least 4 of these rounds were close. However, if you understand boxing scoring, effective aggression, ring generalship, defence and of course punches landed and the power of the punches, Usyk won these rounds, Competive fight and if Usyk is now an ATG, then so is Fury.
Just scored it for the first time. One point up for usyk. Rd 1......10/10 Rd 2......10/9 usyk Rd 3......10/10 Rd4.......10/10 Rd 5.......10/9 fury Rd 6.......10/9 usyk Rd 7.......10/9 usyk Rd 8.......10/9 usyk Rd 9.......10/9 fury Rd 10.....10/9 fury Rd11......10/9 usyk Rd12......10/9 fury For me round 3 and 4 we,re 10/10,s but if i had to pick both we,re usyk rounds as opposed to fury rounds. To me tho not enough to seperate them by enough to give a point. Fury was arguably better in the second half of the fight. He should have took more points than he did from the judges after the 6th. I think if you put them 3rd and 4th rounds down as usyk rounds your not really far away from the final result. Either 3 points for usyk or 1. For me one point In it. The better man better at working the points system won on the night. Fury fought pretty well tbf i can kind of understand his frustration but harder to make a case for a fury win scoring it using the points system. A draw not out of the question if you give fury the fourth which i think one judge did. With a ten/ten 3rd. One point or 3 for usyk tho. Close fight. Usyk just the better man overall and should have had a stoppage win in the first fight.
Fury won more rounds in the second half of the fight than the first. I only actually gave him one round up to the 9 round point with three drawn rounds. He had more success in the second part of the fight. Frank warren was on to something imo....he just ignored the fact fury didnt win many of them early rounds.
