Anyone surprised that Usyk totally outshone Lomachenko?

I’ve never been too crazy about Loma but Usyk completely shocked me. I thought he was a great cruiser but was just gonna turn into a whatever heavyweight.

I personally think Loma has so many physical gifts that he's always brilliant to watch, but Usyk has had the significant edge in cardio, IQ, desire, and clutchness, which is a lot harder to see immediately

No not really, I've rated Usyk over Loma for a number of years now. Usyk did surprise me with the level of success he's had at heavyweight. I thought he'd be up there with the top guys in the division but didn't expect him to be the last man left standing.

Yes as he was more hyped for these reasons

-Only one loss out of 400 amateur fights
-Fastest track to a title shot
-In a more skilled weight class and never really losing dominantly there despite being outsized most of the time

As of right now, Id say loma is an A- fighter while usyk is A+

A lot of people already forgot how dominant Loma was at 126 and 130.

    Yes. Absolutely

So many now pretend to know it all and selectively change views to suit.

I recall when Usyk was challenging for his first world title against Undefeated Glowacki.
It was to be Usyks 10th fight (amazing for a 10th fight). The camera showed Usyk and Lomachenko in the dressing room. At that time Lomachenko had had 7 fights, 6 world title fights, made some good defences and was already a 2 weight world champion and was going great guns as a 2 weight champion about to make his next defence against Undefeated N Waters.

I don't think there were many that really were sitting there thinking in a few years time that Usyk would be rated higher

No, he had the x factor that Loma was always missing.

And I'm a Loma apologist on here.

But he never achieved that marquee victory, and he did lose to Lopez.

That being said Loma was hot **** at SFW

The saying goes, weight advantages mean more the smaller you are. Did the Loma/Lopez fight have a rehydration clause because Lopez is at least two divisions naturally bigger.

I have to give it to you.
I could understand someone thinking this 5 or so years ago, but for you to think this 10 years ago when Lomachenko was already a world champion and Usyk had only had a few pro fights is amazing
    Well done. Fantastic insight

Well ten years ago there wasn't really a question comparing the two.

However Loma has already lost to Salido.

I wasn't aware of Usyk until he fought Glowacki, but since then I was a believer in his skills. I was constantly calling for him to fight the best and prove himself the best, and he went on to do that.

Loma looked mint at SFW but couldn't secure the biggest fights there. At LW be looked good but vulnerable and was dropped against Linares and lost to Lopez.

I'm not sure ten years ago anyone had a "who will be greater" thread though.

Usyk has a more manly boxing style. He would never run away like Loma did. Nor would he be afraid of taking a hard shot to the noggin. He always came to bang. Loma was too content in the ring.

To be fair it’s a lot tougher at the lower weights. The heavyweights are the least skilled of all weight classes and often just fat lazy puddings, only division where you can make it on size alone. Usyk was cemented after becoming undisputed cruiser champ but casuals needed him to conquer tve heavies aswel.
