Salvador Sanchez should be in the top 20

Wilfredo Gomez is my countryman and my favorite boxer and was super nice to me when i met him, but ranking him just one space behind Sanchez after the way he lost to Salvador is a joke.

    I thought I;d see Wilfredo around 80th to 90th.

Sal is one of my favourite counterpunchers and had already proven his ATG status IMO but early death with iconic people tends to catapult their magnificence to levels they never quite reached.

In the last 80 - 120 years of boxing being a truly finely skilled endeavour, Sal doesn't touch the top 20 - respectfully.

Sanchez has the James Dean/Keith Ledger Syndrome.
    What might have been?
Gomez was not in proper shape.
Cowdell, a good honest tradesman gave him a good go.
Sal gets the paradoxical benefit of his tragically untimely death, elevating him to a status he did not prove.imo.
Was he even better than Pedroza?

Gomez ruled his division with an iron fist, dominating against all comers for years and eventually won titles at higher weights.

We never found out if Sanchez was king of his own division given Pedroza was defending his own crown countless times and usually against credible opposition. If Sanchez beat Pedroza you'd have a point.

I know, I know...I sound like one of those Mexicans on You Tube who claim Sal beats Ali and SUgar Ray Robinson in a pound for pound mythical fight lol...

Im not Mexican but I love my fellow Latin brothers and sisters from la nacion de Pancho Villa!!

@McGrain I know this list is over a decade old but with Usyk's recent achievements i'd be curious to see how high you rank him now.

I believe you could switch Louis with Moore and Ali with McLarnin/Canzoneri

I know these lists are subjective but Mike Tyson and Jack Dempsey should belong on any Top 100 list.

I’m surprised Duran is lower than Ali on that list given that years ago I argued vehemently with the author of it that Ali should be higher. Now I don’t know

I have moved Pacquiao further up since his "Draw" over Barrios. I and many others had him winning over Barrios at 46 years old and after years of being retired. As Armstrong should have been Middleweight champion after his debated loss, so too should Pacquiao be a Welterweight champion and oldest ever welterweight title holder after his debated loss to Barrios.
