Prime Pinklon Thomas vs Andrew Golota. But let’s say that Golota is motivated and has his head on straight for this one, so no self-sabotage this time around. Just skill vs skill.

I think Pinklon Thomas does enough to get the decision.

Thomas wins in a competitive fight.
Golota had ability, and could be competitive with very good fighters, it was when he took a solid punch, he capitulated or when pressure was put on him and he was forced to work more than he wants, or made uncomfortable in general, that’s when he’d capitulate. He was a very good technical boxer and would perform the best against other technical boxers.

This would be an interesting fight, probably difficult for Thomas.

If Pinky could set that arrhythmic jab in play, Golota would have problems right off. That's where Bowe failed, he just couldn't get the range for the jab. Pinky's left was better and could set Andrew up for that sneaky right around the 5th or 6th round.

I can't see Golota winning this, but I can see Thomas getting rocked harder than he ever was besides Mike Tyson. So this would have to be peak Pink (okay yeah, I couldn't resist writing that last).

Golota had chances but I don't think he was Berbick, plus with how he likes to abuse man balls, it's more impossible to see Golota winning.

With your scenario I would take Golota by comfortable decision. Andrew had quicker hands, good power and threw combinations better than Thomas.

He was whipping Bowe both times before pulling defeat from the jaws of victory. In this scenario he doesn't do that. He would beat alot of names.

There was a small window from perhaps 1983 to 1985 where Pinklon Thomas might have had the ability to beat Andrew Golata. I selected him to do it by decision. But Pink’s prime was precious short. I really think his skills were already diminishing by the Berbick fight in ‘86. By the time he fought Holyfield in ‘88 he looked horrible.

Golota loses all big fights mainly because he is a mental disorder and not because of the talent he has enough of, Thomas takes this...

More like a tale of two Golotas haha. Take the physical abilities of the younger Golota that fought Bowe and combine them with the mental strength and fortitude of the older Golota that kept it together for the Ruiz and Byrd fights.

I agree Golota stood quite well amongst 90s contenders.

I realize this may be lame, but to me those two Bowe fights were more indicative of the decline of one and not the awesome skills of the other. Bowe was not only well past it, but he seemed to ignore Futch (super stupid idea). He simply refused to find proper range for his jab, and I'm positive Futch would have helped him with that. To me Bowe's jab landing would have changed the course of the whole fight and Golota would have been out in 4.

Yes Indeed. I'd agree with all that.
Crack cocaine ruined Thomas while he was still a world champion. Berbick was a strong tough determined fighter but Thomas looked half asleep from the first bell.

Think I heard it was heroin but regardless of what it specifically was, yes. It ruined him
