Some thread title and I have no idea how 'someone never that good' can become a World Champion earning a fortune in the process.

You get the odd ATG fighters and perhaps the thread creator has an argument there as only Usyk in this heavyweight era fits the bill at present.

Should he keep fighting and eventually end up getting KTFO at the age of 40, no doubt similar threads will appear.

    Spot on to a word.
Zhang would inflict terrible sufferances on Fury perhaps knock him unconscious. But what a fight that would be for boxing in China

    What happened to fury?
In wilder 2,3 he was a killer.

the only fighter I’ve seen look stronger than wilder and manhandle him, and he couldn’t handle his power.

he was super strong and powerful but what happened? Only saw strength and power in them 2 fights.

No heavyweight has been though. Him included. So he’s been the best of a bad bunch for me. The fact Klitschko reigned so long and then Fury boxed his head off shows how bad the division is. I really don’t see the fascination with it.

Why not? It's a very valid argument

Fury has been down more times than Parker, and even against the same opps Joe hasn't touched the canvas. Fury got put down by Cunningham for heavens sake. Zhang would leave him plonkered, the end.

    Hardly the end

If a fighter can get up there's a good chance the fight continues

I like Zhang but if Fury was never that good then Zhang was never any good

For those trying to big up Wilder as an ATG. Riddle me this. Is Daniel Dubois an ATG? Because he clearly has a vastly superior cv at this early stage than Wilder managed his whole career.

He was very good, but the era was weak.

Some on here were saying he is the greatest ever HW fighter. I think it is now clear to all that was never the case, that maybe was the point of the OP

I think it's more of the case that HW for many many years has been a division lacking real talented or ATG boxers .. last of that era was Lewis , Holyfield.

After that it's been the Klits for many years beating mostly bums except when one of them fought Lewis and then came AJ who again isn't the greatest of boxers but had all the natural attributes to have a good run in this HW era ..

You know the HW is a joke when you have a one trick right hook happy , wild Wilder as a champion ...the guy was straight hype .. and such a poor boxer .. So Fury best win being Wilder says alot about this HW era ..

Well no. It wasn't his best win and second Wilder pretty much lost all the times he actually fought top 10 fighters in his era. So I don't know how Wilder being beaten up by better fighters somehow makes this era weak because he couldn't cut it at the top. It's a strange argument to say the least.

Well even if it isn't Fury's best win it's right up there.. again proves my point that we been I'm a weak HW era, Larry Holmes , Prime Mike Tyson, Lewis ..beat all the last champions in 20 years with ease ..
