Usyk also had a lot of amateur fights. Training since he's a kid. Takes a toll on the body as well. Ali went to the rope-a-dope later in his career when he could no longer move. What happened to him is unfortunate and sad but on him. Tyson played with drugs. What happened to him is on him.
I'm not saying it's not on them what I'm saying is you can't compare fighters just because they're the same age. Everyone has a different life path with wear and tear on their body the amount of fights they've had and how well they've kept themselves in shape over the years. Fighters nowadays don't fight anywhere near as often it was common in the old days for fighters to fight 3 championship fights a year and sometimes more you wouldn't see that now.
Who did Foreman fight in the 70s that was 6'7 270lbs? A big heavyweight in those days was 225lbs. The bully would get bullied.
Pound for pound Foreman was much stronger than Fury, arguably in overall strength as well. 70s Foreman was 220 lbs of mostly lean muscle mass, Fury has an excess of 40 lbs of fat hanging off him. It's mainly the sheer weight of him that makes him hard to move for some. In a hypothetical situation where Foreman knew he'd be fighting a man Fury's size, he wouldn't bother trimming himself down to the 220s as he had to do to fight the quicker smaller heavyweights over 15 rounds in the 70s. He'd likely be a solid 235 lbs vs Fury, and Fury was barely able to manhandle the ~220 Usyk.
Knocked dead by big punching "Candy Slim" Merrit before he ever gets his big shot before fading into total obscurity...
Old Foreman wasn't getting bullied around at nearly 50 years old against muscle bound walking pharmacies in their primes like Shannon Briggs & Tommy Morrison... that would be different now... why, exactly?
Big George got outboxed by Axel Schultz. He would get outboxed by Usyk. Fury, at his best, would jab and move and rack up a boring but effective points win.
Old Foreman was 255lbs, the young prime one was 220lb. A big difference. He never once got knocked down when he came back, that extra weight helped his punch resistance.
Golota could have been an ATG if he was mentally strong and had the dedication for the sport and didn't get involved with some questionable things in Poland
Where would any of us be without those three minor differences? I wouldn't be sitting here talking to ya'll, that's for sure. No offense. It's just, I'd probably be putting it to Jeri Ryan on holiday at a private island, eating breadfruit.
I just watched the first Ali Frasier fight. Ali was getting hit a lot and Frasier looked tiny and uncoordinated. I think Usyk and Fury would beat both.
